*a copy of this letter is also placed on the door to the watch house, so that passing watchmen and women might read it themselves*
Azzam,
Either you stand for justice or you do not. Ethier you are here to protect the people of this city, or you are not. You either follow the letter of the law, or you follow your own will. Which is it good Sheriff?
The Spellguard has committed a mass genocide against their own people. They murdered good men and women who came to the defense of their city when called upon. Is this not exactly what Charles Bresley himself would have done? Where would our city be now had the Spellguard murdered him? The Spellguard argue not that it was accident, but the fault of the deceased for getting in the way. Let them argue it in court, like any other citizen would have to in their place.
There must be a trial, and there must be arrests made. You'll do it now, or force my hand when elected to the council.

Dear Citizen,
Stop making a ruckus! The activation of those defense orbs saved lives. A warning was given for civilians to stay well away from the gates. We all heard it, and a few people who were willing to give their lives to defend Sanctuary apparently refused to heed it. I have no remorse for anyone who resolved to take the risk regardless, and remain.
If you continue undermining this state with your propaganda, you WILL be arrested by my men for public nuisance, over and over again until you learn your lesson. If you have issues with the Spellguard's conduct, you will act as any respectful Sanctuarian would and take it to them in person.

Azzam,
Wrong answer. I am not alone in my sentiments. The thought that you would arrest me for voicing my outrage over the people who, knowingly or not, killed countless lives is pathetic. The only nuisance I see your own overlooking of the letter of the law.
In case you've forgotten them, here are some of out more serious crimes on the books:
Murder - Capital Offense
Endangerment to Sanctuary - Capital Offense
It is not your place to decide, it is your place to make arrests and put the decision to the will of the people in the form of the council. Do your job, this is all we ask. There will be a trail.
By the way, we're also still waiting for something to be done about the Agent who raised the undead in the Arena, in full view of watchmen and then walked away to continue about the day. Maybe it was this very same agent who later flipped a switch and killed our bravest citizens. Maybe you should consider actually doing something about it. You have deviants in your law enforcement ranks and they do more harm then the worst criminals ever do. It was this kind of hands off approach that allowed a slaver to become sheriff before you. Sitting on your hands will only allow these kinds of things to continue. Even you are not above the law, Azzam, no one is. Now read its letter or be just as guilty yourself.

Similarly placed by the door, written larger due to its brevity:
When a father warns his child not to stare into the glory of At'ar, and the child does not pay heed and goes blind, neither the father nor At'ar are to blame.

Two other, personal, replies await him.
Citizen,This is the last I have to say on the matter.

Faraday:The Agent's opponent in the tournament himself identified the "undead" as an illusion. The case has been closed for some time.

Azzam,
Know that I would never call your lover a whore, or say any of those awful things about your character. Further, what you do in your private life is the concern of no one but yourself. The mud is being slung from all directions now and we are both getting hit by it. I am sorry for the cantor of my previous letters to you, you are by no means pathetic. I was angry and you were not angry enough. If I am to be on the council, I want you to know that I sometimes get carried away, but at the core I am doing it because I know it is right.
I want you to do the right thing too. The people will be behind you, they will admire the courage it took to do what is right. Everyone on the streets wants a trial. The souls of the dead demand it. Do the right thing. Now is the time to lead, this is your chance to prove what kind of person you really are.
Be the hero we all consider you to be.
