Nicolae Lecuyer Citizens,Tomorrow we all go into that Voting Room, and we make a decision. This decision will determine something very important, and I do not mean for only the next two months until we do it once more. The decisions we make in this election, will resonate throughout history. We are at a very important juncture, in our City's growth. It is these coming months that will determine where we go, and whether or not we continue to prosper, in the face of extreme adversity, or if we falter, and find ourselves caught in the snares of the Underdark.
Many people declare, sentimentally "Vote your Heart". But I declare to you, Citizens, to Vote your Minds. We are all beings of reason, we are intelligent and we are wise. In this time of our City, we do not need bull-headed, vigorous young men who speak of revolution and drastic rehauls of our City. We require men who are tried and true, who speak of stability, of economic security, of continued defense. In short, Citizens, we require men who know the value of temperence, and patience.
I implore you Citizens, vote for men who will see our City well defended, and not turned into a "shining blade in the darkness", against the unassailable evils in the dark. We are not meant to be an overwhelming force for the powers of righteousness and good. We are a City of People who must merely continue to be safe, and live our lives as best we can. I will not march us off to war. I will not speak feverishly of the evils we must fight, of the evils here at home, of the ever constant state of wrong. We are mortals, and we are fallible. We all make mistakes, and of that we are all aware. I do not suggest that we are perfect, merely that we are human.
To this end, I understand that change to some aspects must be undertaken. But what must be avoided, is change merely for the sake of change. We must make improvements, not just changes. We must make improvements for our people, and for ourselves.
So I ask you, when you step into that Voting Booth, to vote for the men that you know have the interests of this City in mind. I ask particularly, that you vote for myself, as of course I must think I am the best man for the task if I am running at all. I will see that we are well defended, that we are kept safe, and that our Social and Economic needs are met. I will not be the voice of the zealot, of the war monger. I will be the voice of the people -- of the common people.
Thank you.
