Flat-rate Exploration XP?

Hey, I'm new here, but when I've been walking around Sanctuary and the Underdark, seeing the sights, I've noticed that some places give large amounts (almost 100+XP) of experience for visiting them, whilst a vast majority of other places, some even out of the way and hidden (such as the Badlands), only give about 20XP or even less.

This doesn't really make sense to me, so I'm just thinking maybe it would be better if there was just a flat rate, say about 10-20XP, for uncovering any new area, not just certain ones, and even then, you may not get an XP at all.

If you try to think of the exploration xp as a representation of how important or interesting the discovery is, it will immediately make more sense. Seeing such an unique place as Old Sanctuary Gates will make much more of an impact on your character than seeing the Badlands, which is not unlike other areas your character has been to before.

Indeed, leave it as is. If they want to make some place have a larger exploration xp reward, then so be it.

Also consider the XP a reward based on a few other factors, such as distance from the city and the level of danger you face in a given area.

Bottom line, no one wants you to take away their precious XP.

I openly support the adding of greater swords of the Paladin Smiter.

The large amounts for discovering Sanctuary are intentional, and are there to help new players level up quickly from 2 to 3, mostly. To get at the meat of your suggestion, I like that there are a few areas that are very scary, and give more exploration XP than others.

I like it how it is, for one, As a Druid that really doesn't agree with some of the easier to do quests, it was a nice touch having some decent exp rewarded to me for going to certain areas, that to be honest, is an experience for her.

Exploration XP is fine as it is. Discovering the places should be more rewarding than XPs (is that me typing?). EfU has a great setting, and just looking around some places is awsome.

For those who stick around town, legitimately afraid to wander around: : get a group, explore. Get invisible, explore. get stealth explore. Explore, run for your life, get fugued. Start again...

Caves, lakes, waters.... we're just missing that precious fly or levitate spell to check the spiderwebs on cave roofs.
