1) Should duergar, kobolds, orcs and goblins be allowed into any part of Sanctuary? Would you support the right of citizens attack and kill them on sight?:
Duergar, goblins, orcs, kobolds, and all other monstrous races have no place inside of our city, as far as I'm concerned. Half-breeds of orc, drow, or demonic blood are not races unto themselves, and should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
2) Will you continue to allow kobolds of the Shadow Tribe to occupy one of the finest pieces of real estate in Old Sanctuary? Will you subscribe to the argument that we need their dragon they worship as a god to protect us, as well as continue to purchase ore from them for our economy?:
I believe Sanctuary to be able to defend herself. Her citizens are of the toughest sort, being freed slaves, underdark refugees, or born of this place. We will stand strong in the face of our enemies, which I consider EVERY civilization beyond our own to be. As they all war and struggle for power amongst themselves, we will still be able to trade with them because it will also be in their best interests. To believe that they think any higher of us than we do of them is naive, if not plain foolish. The worry that other settlements will not trade with us I do not believe. So in short, I would see them sent home to their Shadow Dragon.
3) Should the style of execution in Capital Convictions be at the whim of the Councilor, giving them the right to declare by what means the condemned shall die?:
If you are condemned to death, you are condemned to death. I see no reason to mandate a specific method of execution.
4) Should Sanctuary try to remain unnoticed by our dangerous neighbors for the safety of the majority, or actively seek to thwart the cruel practices of slavery and worse?:
Despite what many believe, it is quite obvious that those around us are acutely aware of our presence. As far as "freedom raids" and such, as long as we are not directly dealing with a particular slave-holding community, I fully support them, and would gladly join them myself. On that note, I am unaware of the Slaal'teesh kobolds holding any slaves, and support open trade with them as long as we are required to swear no fealty to their dark leader.
5) Will Lower continue to be a lawless place where the strong may do as they wish to the weak, or should Sanctuary proper send in the Watch or mercenaries to enforce their law to protect the weak at the risk of violence and bloodshed once more?:
This is a loaded question, but I believe I have an appropriate response. Lower Sanctuary, by and large, is apathetic to it's own existence. The only ones who care about it's "freedom" are those who wish to rule it. I am fine with leaving those who wish to live there to their own devices. As long as the Watch and Spellguard protect the Canal Ward and it's gate, as well as any other entrances to Sanctuary proper, I see little true problem. The occasional gang leader who thinks himself more than he is is no real threat to our defensive forces.
This is how I feel, and will use my position of Councilor accordingly.
