Patriots,

I hope this answers some of your questions regarding my policies.

Salman Faraday

1. Should duergar, kobolds, orcs and goblins be allowed into any part of Sanctuary? Would you support the right of citizens attack and kill them on sight? I believe all creatures of the world are entitled to freedom until they commit a crime worthy of revoking it. A race is not a person. The individual commits a crimes, a race can not.

2. Will you continue to allow kobolds of the Shadow Tribe to occupy one of the finest pieces of real estate in Old Sanctuary? Will you subscribe to the argument that we need their dragon they worship as a god to protect us, as well as continue to purchase ore from them for our economy? I am no hawk of war. Unless the embassy breaks the law they are free to remain for eternity. In regards to purchases of ore, shipping companies and private investors should be allowed to trade with anyone they want. The market will decide. If people want to do without their ore, more power to them. I don't need ore to begin with. In fact, to suggest we need the tribe or its dragon at all is ridiculous. We did without its protection for a century and a half, we could do it again if we had to.

3. Should the style of execution in Capital Convictions be at the whim of the Councilor, giving them the right to declare by what means the condemned shall die? I believe that executions should be reserved for only the most heinous crimes. They should be carried out as swiftly and painlessly as possible. To be honest though, the likelihood of any council agreeing on legislation for this is not good. Hopefully, it is enough for you to know that I will always treat the accused with the respect every humanoid deserves.

4. Should Sanctuary try to remain unnoticed by our dangerous neighbors for the safety of the majority, or actively seek to thwart the cruel practices of slavery and worse? The answer is both. Our neighbors already know we are here. Either they don't have the resources to destroy us or they are allowing us to exist for their own purposes. We as a city must do everything in our power to ensure it is the former. Freeing slaves is a number one priority, but so is ensuring a place for them to escape to. We'll increase our strength while nobody is looking.

5. Will Lower continue to be a lawless place where the strong may do as they wish to the weak, or should Sanctuary proper send in the Watch or mercenaries to enforce their law to protect the weak at the risk of violence and bloodshed once more? Pretty biased question. There are a lot of really good people in lower, I consider myself one of them. That said, I am prepared to take the steps to clean up the streets. I would not use the watch to do so. Sending in watch would not deal with the fundamental issue, which is poverty. Many of my economic policies are set to address this. Furthermore, I fully believe it is time the strong good hearted folk who do live in lower start looking out for their fellow man. Just because there is no law does not mean you can't enforce morality. If you witness a crime, do something about it.
