Will there be a ranger track feat/ability? If so, how will it work?
Ranger Tracking
We certainly plan on having ranger tracking eventually, it's just somewhat low priority right now.
Is there any plans of what kind system it's going to be? Personally I hope its going to be working soon after the servers on, since I see it as very important skill in Underdark, where all kind monster roam around in the tunnels and so on.
It would be very nice to have, even in a basic form.
I've already got a basic script to handle ranger tracking. Suggestions on ways to better implement or improve it, however, would be much appreciated.
Direction is the most obvious one, followed by type of creature/footprint, followed by age of the print, followed by how deep the print is, perhaps suggesting the size of weapon or quality of armour the printmaker is wearing.
Any of that is good.
Even phenotype, if that is possible. :)
The Wilderness Lore System is one of the better versions of the Track feat. If the scripts themselves cannot be used, the feedback given with this system could be used to develop our own version. The following are a few examples:
- "You were unable to find tracks around here." (Failing an initial check.)
- "It is impossible to sort out tracks here." (Attempting to track in the city.)
- "Beware, signs of many small creatures around." (Succeeding an initial check.)
- "A tiny creature seems to be very far to the N." (Detecting a creature quite a distance away.)
- "An elf is close to the S." (Detecting a creature in close proximity.)
Sounds good.
Again, something I already have if you want it.

Implemented, partially. Our underlying mechanics have been revised; the messages themselves still need to be fully updated.
Will tracking in the city be impossible? I think it should be possible, even if with a huge penalty. Also, can we know what skill is it based on (spot? search?) or we aren't supposed to? I'd like to, even if we get just a vague idea and not the whole formula. Thanks!

Sure... it'll go like this "You look at the floor and see oodles of dust, vomit, trash, mud, and footprints all intermingled going every whichaway at which point you exclaim OMG D00D WTF I give up!" Haha jk :P But yes having said all that silliness, some form of at least being able to check everywhere would be nice even if the DC's insane. I've seen other places where a huge majority of the quest areas just won't let you track at all... even if it's outdoors etc. >.<
Well, since it's possible in pnp, and there's even a prc for that (urban ranger), I thought it would be a good suggestion.
I didnt think urban ranger was a PrC but a Variant on the ranger class, or it was in the PHB 3.e, don't know if its changed in 3.5
Yes, that's correct. It's a variant.
At the moment, it's (roughly) a combination of Spot, Search, and Listen, with a small bonus for Lore dependent on your Ranger levels. More info later.
