These bold fliers are found in every corner of the city
--RADOSLAV in Hammer 152--
I am Dmitryi Radoslav. I descended in the the Underdark in search of a lost comrade, and after many long days lost in the smothering darkness, I arrived here. I saw a bastion of hope in an underworld devoid of it. I saw an industrious, indomitable people trying in earnest to make ends meet in an inhospitable environment. I saw too, with an outsider's perception, a number of problems holding these people back.
Initially joining the Watch to defend this place, I reconsidered how I may best serve and came to run for Council instead.
My platform is simple. Under my leadership, we will follow through on our successes and we will fashion an enduring sense of pride in our great city.
FOLLOWING THROUGH The Canal Ward was won with blood and steel, yet our great triumph has come to naught. Our energy has flagged and our momentum has stalled. Our success is so very close to becoming a great failure.
Watchmen work double shifts for poor pay defending a productive district with no destination for its products. The air in Lower Sanctuary is heavy with whispers of strikes against our forces in the Canal Ward. Merchants and craftsmen compete against each other for smalls shares in the tiny Sanctuary market while the Dark Lake markets are closed to us. Untrained citizens -beggars and children- are busy building dockyards and ships without a seaway open for us to ply, in the unlikely chance they are ever finished or of seaworthy quality. The dark fey steal into the district cloaked in shadows and drunk with malice, dining on our children and thieving our goods.
I, Dmitryi Radoslav, intend on changing this.
If you vote me in, I will:
1) Increase Watch Wages More Watch funding as a whole will improve Watch pay. No longer shall the families of our brave soldiers lack for the basics.
2) Encourage Recruitment Our undermanned defense forces will enjoy a needed boost due to my planned government incentives, such as a one-time grant to new recruits joining in the month of Hammer, as well as tax reprieves and discounts on property for Watch families
3) Create a Navy Institute a city Naval Company, under the jurisdiction of the Council, which shall consolidate all maritime industries and operations, including shipbuilding, dock construction, warehousing, weapon production and crew training. This will create a plethora of employment opportunities, erase the uncertainty of our current naval industry and breath life into our struggling economy.
4) Open the Dark Canal As no doubt a number of the dark fey will see one of my fliers, I will by necessity keep details regarding my plan to crush them vague. Rest assured though, a vote for me in Hammer 152 will see these vicious little snakes removed from the world with an utter finality. Those citizens who wish to know details may speak to me personally.
5) Deter the Rebels To put it simply, under my leadership the city shall make it known plainly to the criminals and rebels who control Lower that we will not tolerate incursions, attacks or disruptions in the Canal Ward. Toward this end, the expertise of the veritable Spellguard Order shall be contracted by the city proper, and funding injected into the research and construction of the largest, most formidable animatron to date, which shall patrol the Canal Ward. Let the foolhardy dissidents of Lower gaze in awe at our might, and reconsider any plans for insurgency they may have.
6) Expand Trade Once the Canal Ward is safe, the passage to the Dark Lake secured and our naval forces ready, I will espouse an explosion of trade with other settlements. Revenues from trade will inject wealth into the city's economy and tax breaks shall be issued to the citizenry as this wealth pours in.
SANCTURIAN PRIDE Sanctuary has come along way from its humble beginnings as a cramped, dirty, temporary camp. We are now a young and energetic power in the Dark Lake region. We have repeatedly demonstrated our ability to defend ourselves, produce exports for trade and create an orderly, civilized society. Social institutions, dependable military organizations, a code of law and a strong system of governance have all emerged in our wake. Despite all of this, many people -amongst them the Seekers and rebels of Lower- spend their time pointing out our flaws and failings. They do not dwell on our great successes, our courage, our ingenuity, our tenacity to not only survive, but actually prosper, in Toril's harshest environment.
Let the dissidents mule and bleat if they wish- let them complain and postulate and whine. I intend to leave them behind, and lead the hard-working, honest and proud men and women of Sanctuary into a new era.
In the pursuit of pride:
1) Sanctuarian Insignia On the Council, I will see that our City adopts a suitable coat-of-arms and a uniform for our City employees, such as those who serve in the Civil Service and other similar agencies of the state. The Watch and Spellguard shall retain their uniforms, the only change being the addition of the Sanctuary coat-of-arms emblazoned on. Competitions with City-funded prizes shall open in Hammer if I am voted in, wherein citizens eager to display what Sanctuary means to them may offer up their own version of a coat-of-arms. The winner will take home a great prize and also have the satisfaction of seeing their artwork used by City personnel ever after.
2) Sanctuarian Anthem Along with the insignia, a fitting anthem for the city will also be pursued. And again, a competition will be opened. Bards, poets, songsmiths and even the regular citizens may send in their works. The piece deemed by the Council to best encapsulate the enigma of the Sanctuary spirit shall go on to become our City's anthem, something which our people may sing with pride and rally to in times of need. The days of divisive Sanctuary are coming to a close. These will be the first steps toward a unity which works for all of us.
3) Monuments If I am elected to Council, Sanctuary will bloom with colonnades, statues and monuments erected in honor of our heroes and our victories. Artificers commissioned by the city shall fashion fitting tributes to our deeds, so the glory of such events as our crushing of the lizardmen menace remain unforgotten. Sanctuarians will take pride in our achievements, and these stone tributes shall stand as mute testimony to our implacable energy and might.

It is time to follow through.
It is time we found our pride.
It is time we arose!
