This is probably one of those 'needs to be worked towards IC' suggestions. But I'll pitch it because it might not even be in the realm of possibility for most people:
Given the recent discussions regarding alternatives to FD, how would the DMs feel about a 'sold into slavery' path for characters? Basically, this would take the following format: Someone is subdued in PVP, looted and taken to an area where NPCs can barter over them, culminating in the PC in question being sold to Traensyr or any other evil settlements.
Why?
Basically, the other side of this idea is that it would allow characters to return, after a certain amount of time, which could be discussed by DMs. The character would then re-enter the world of EfU with no loot, having to start over. Depending on how much time elapsed since you were sold into slavery, you'd have a hard time, as many associates and acquaintances could be dead/gone. But it would give you a chance to begin anew with your character, with his awesome goals and quirky personality that you spent so long developing, and it would add a whole new layer to him/her - now they have a personal feud with whoever sold them into slavery. It is time for some payback.
Obviously, this would only be done if the subduers/subdualed were in agreement, which would pretty much deter the whole 'oh, but I won the PVP and now he's gonna come back and kill me' argument - you chose to do it in the first place, so you best be waiting for the payback when it comes.
How do people feel about this? Is it feasible/desirable?
