We live in the Underdark. It is a notion that we all are fully aware of, that we fully understand. Yet it has come to my attention that we tolerate an idle disposition.

This cannot be! We must embrace the truth, we cannot allow ourselves to become sedated, for our enemies in the dark are both numerous and powerful. The drow would see us enslaved, the illithids would feast on even our children without hesitation, and the beholders would cast us into madness as their servants.

We must take a firm stand. We must be industrious and prepared to draw hard lines, to stand under one banner as an Iron Wall against the darkness. We must provide for our defense both domestic and abroad. What will failure yield? Look at the history. The Mycopleans were unprepared. They did little more than stand on a wall and be hopeful. They were not ready, and they suffered for their incompetence. We cannot make their mistake, we must learn and adapt.

What is more-- we have allowed our emotions to overcome our reason. Lower Sanctuary is a sad and desparate place, it is true, but no amount of sadness and desparation can make the crimes committed their both against Sanctuary and against itself tolerable! One bad thing should not lead to the acceptance of more.

I, Illario Dentra, will specifically see the following specific issues when elected:

Improved Civil Defense - Militarization, seperation of civil and military defense. Our Watchmen are tired and overworked. They should be allowed to concentrate on the numerous domestic disturbances and properly trained to fight both brigands, Chosen, and rogue animatrons. Specialization and concentration of power will save lives. - Enforcement over extra-terretorial threats such as Druidic Worship, Infernalism, drow, etc. shall be assigned to a new, unified civil organization that will consist of Spellguard, Watchman, School of War instructors, and other similar experts to carry out the foreign duties that have so long been spread amongst the now-gone Seekers, the Watch, and the Spellguard.

New Dunwarren Renovation - As the only part of Sanctuary that boasts a lift, the New Dunwarren area could be made into a commercial venue for the sale of domestic and foreign goods. Currently, it provides neither of these. Or anything for that matter. - The Temple of Tyr, unfortunately, is absolutely useless. Not only is it one of the larger structures in town, it does not even have a priest to lead services. If it is unable to provide the services it ought to render to the people of the city within a reasonable timeframe, its occupants should be placed into the prexisting shrine to the same three gods that stands only fifty paces from the front door of the largely vacant Temple.

Illithid Countermeasure Research -The Shelter is a fantastic organization, although incomplete. I believe that they, or a partnership group, could make a serious difference in the way we protect ourselves from the illithid and their thralls. I need not stress how imperative it is that we take the hard stands against enthrallment.

With these proactive steps, Sanctuary WILL be made a stronger state. We can and should do no less.
