*only a few posters placed about the city in prominent places as opposed to an army of flyers. It's quickly becoming a habit of Allegretti postings, perhaps in some effort to restrain the use of paper* Allegretti on Taxes
In regards to the recent announcements by my esteemed comrade in candidacy, Dimemnelen Rimnelennus Rimferrin, I'm afraid I must disagree with some his stance on taxes. I believe that taxing adventurers within Sanctuary will bring only negligible gains, as well as ostracizing this noble community and forcing them to leave for Lower or Mur. In addition, the officials tasked with taxing such folk will be sorely strained and may in fact find their task impossible to attend; the adventurous spirit that lends these folk their strength and value is the same that sometimes bids them too soon to the heavens of their gods on high. Recording that which is, by nature, too loosely officiated to record, is an exercise in futility.
Further, the primary source of recruitment for the Watch, the Spellguard, the Society, and numerous other facilities and landmarks of Sanctuarian progress is the body of adventurers which inhabit the city. Amongst any invasion of the city or imminent threat to our livelihoods, you will never see the Watch (et al), despite their dedication, alone in their task. Ask any of our noble Watchman, and they will tell you the plain and simple truth; our adventurers are necessary to the protection of the city, both for what they offer independently and what they become amongst our factions of defense.
I too, however, intend to re-examine taxes in regards to all folk, and consult the most learned men and women of the city on ways to improve our economy. I believe wholeheartedly that any reduction in the city's revenue can be met and bested by a stronger, more active business of trade. We must strive much more often to make responsible use of the natural and man-made resources available to us, and to seek out the proper possibilities for trade.
I am Frances Allegretti, Priestess of Lurue who is patron to adventurers and beasts of wisdom, and I will bring that same wisdom and strength to the Council with me.
