Not sure if it's a bug or some other reason. ~But~ Why cant a N/G Dwarvin druid of Dumathoin cast cure light wounds? A game message said he was the wrong alignment.
Dwarvin Druid of Dumathoin
Have to be one of these dieties
Nature Deities - Chauntea, Kossuth, Malar, Mielikki, Silvanus, Talos, Umberlee, Auril, Eldath, Gwaeron Windstrom, Lurue, Nobanion, Shiallia, Talona, Ubato, Ulutiu, Thard Harr, Aerdrie Faenya, Angharradh, Deep Sashelas, Fenmarel Mestarine, Rillifane Rallathil, Solonor Thelandria, Baervan Wildwanderer, Segojan Earthcaller, Sheela Peryroyl, Anhur, Isis, Sebek, Hiatea, Sekolah, and Cyrrollalee.
Really? That's news. I just did a quick check through the settings and mechanics changes, and I find nothing that specifies that only nature domains can cast cure.
Matter of fact, I have a C/N bard that can cast cure spells and her deity is not on your list. The only reason she has a deity at all is because I decided to put one in her character sheet. She's the first bard I've ever had that had a deity.
A good druid or cleric is a good druid or cleric ... per their class and alignment they should be able to cast cure spells.
I'm thinking there's a bug here. Or at the very least something that may have been left out of a script.
Divine casters are needed to have a proper alignment and deity to cast spells, arcane casters need no deity or alignment to cast, because they do not call upon a gods power to cast the spells.
The Dwarven Nature deity is Thard Harr.
There's no bug here!
In the forgotten realms, and in EfU, druids are unlike clerics in that only certain deities grant druids spells. So, you could not have a druid of Cyric, a Druid of Bane, a Druid of Torm, or a Druid of Dumathoin.
Plus, what I seem to notice that you're missing entirely is that it isn't the "spell" cure light wounds that a druid of a non-nature god can't cast--it is that the druid of a non-nature god is not in tune or aligned with the aspects of their god's dogma that would grant them spells at all.
You could claim to be a druid of Cyric and expect a Poison spell--but Cyric's dogma has no room for a druidic interpretation at all. Thusly, he isn't about to share a spell with you that he would normally share with his priests just because you happened to ask for a spell that druids and priests get when you're not at all aligned or in keeping with his dogma.
The same holds true for Dumathion. All the faithful he grants spells to are priests and not druids. Thusly, someone who has taken a druid's oaths has clearly not upheld and aligned to the clerical oaths that Dumathion demands, nor does Dumathion recognize a need to to accept druids at all and thusly he ignores their prayers no matter how carefully they follow his dogma they are something he does not view as useful in his followers.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to start a god debate in the 'Bugs' forum, I’m good with whatever rules you guys have, although a quick look over the list of “Nature Gods” presented makes me go Hmm???
Malar = God of hunters, stalking, bloodlust, evil lycanthropes Fenmarel Mestarine = God of feral elves, outcasts, scapegoats, isolation Talona = Goddess of disease, poison Anhur = God of war, conflict, physical prowess, thunder, rain And a couple others not worth mentioning...
But as long as everyone is playing by the same rules it’s all fair, so I’m ok with it...
oops... I was the guest... sorry
psst .... the outcome was finished here
Malar = God of hunters, stalking, bloodlust, evil lycanthropes Fenmarel Mestarine = God of feral elves, outcasts, scapegoats, isolation Talona = Goddess of disease, poison Anhur = God of war, conflict, physical prowess, thunder, rain
Hunting = Part of animal life. Predators do it. Fenmarel = God of feral (foresty) elves. Talona = Goddess of disease, also part of nature. Anhur = Thunder, rain.
Yip Hunting = Part of animal life. Predators do it. Fenmarel = God of feral (foresty) elves. Talona = Goddess of disease, also part of nature. Anhur = Thunder, rain.
It’s still easier to justify Dumathoin as a druid god than the god of bloodlust and evil lycans, whether his name is on a nature list or not. Caves, tunnels and the underdark are nature and have natural creatures too. Dumathoin is also a god of death but he isn’t into masochism, like some other gods on this lists.
Malar & Talona arn't 'natural' they’re twisted.
They're very natural-oriented. Read their dogma and portfolio which do not represent aspects of life brought by civilization but aspects of life found in the natural order of the world.
Malar represents the predator-prey relationships found across many species. To an extent, you could argue that Lycanthropes are more nature-oriented than other races as well as they are simply a link between beast and man.
Talona represents disease and venom which are again an intrinsic part of nature.
I think you are confusing nature diety and nature-loving. Nature is an extremely cruel, fickle mistress representing the competitions of all living things.
These gods represent the darker aspects of Nature, Darwinistic aspects such that those who aren't fit to survive or can't adapt are killed by predators or by diseases...
Those who do survive become stronger (Malar), or develop venoms in order to help in their survival (Another aspect of Talona).
IF all traces of civilization were wiped-out, these port-folios would still be relevant while we cant say the same for Tyr or Gond...
