Associate De la Rey A letter written with annoyed, carvy words.Nightal the 26th, Year 150, 1372 of Dale Reckoning.
Agent Delgado,
with anger and frustration in my heart I relate to you the following incident.
On the 26th of Nightal, a mere hour ago, I was in Lower's Ward to investigate rumours about Undead within our city, following up on a lead that Lieutenant Balesmaan's notification has given me.
The same Mercenary I have previously had conflict with, on the day of the 23th of Nightal, forced a search upon me. I cooperated willingly. After having searched, and repeatedly offended me and the Spellguard organization, he inquired as to what my business was down in Lower's Ward. I informed him I could not relate to this, due to the secrecy of Lieutenant Balesmaan's document, and my contract to keep such matters silent. Whereupon the Tigereye in question acted in an utmost aggressive manner, threathening to strike me down with his greataxe. I assumed it a mere bluff, and stuck by my answer, that he could not be informed due to the sensitivity of the matter. In a fraction of a second, I felt his axe cleft me square in the chest, and I instantly reacted with a spell of Hold Person, which regretfully, had no effect on him whatsoever. He continued attacking me, upon which I could not act but to conceal myself with the spell Invisibility. Still swinging wildly, I could not manage to avoid his powerful swings, and I was struck down.
Some time later, I awoke in a cell, which I later found out, was located in a cellar of the Tigereye Fortress. He continued to ask me questions, and used multiple objects to torture me to extract this information. I finally gave him a misleading answer, whereupon his searched my belongings, and stole a multitude of things, including, but not limited to: A sum of 500 gold, my entire variaty of healing potions, various other magical objects, including those I had received from you the previous day, and lastly, my Spellguard Associate contract.
After, I got thrown out of the building, and headed straight to the Enclave to write my report.
I do hope this will not affect me in any way, for I have done all I could have.
In hopes of a quick reply,
An irky handwriting, depicting: 'De la Rey'.
Spellguard Associate De la Rey.
Aetius Saber Report: Attack on citizen by Tigereye Mercenary 27th day of Nightal in the year 150 Aetius SaberAs metioned, I witnessed the attack on citizen Kudur this day by the Duergar Tigereye Namli or whatever he goes by. Location: By the canal between the Tigereye Compound and the stairs to Upper Sanctuary. Present: Tigereye Mercenary, citizen Kudur, citizen Nimrod, a girl, myself and a Half-orc joined the Mercenary later. The Tigereye questioned citizen Kudur about a theft in Rock Bottom tavern. In particular, he wanted to know names and descriptions of those who attacked the Gnome involed in the incident. Politely, citizen Kudur informed the Duergar that a Watchman had witnessed the scene and that any questions should be directed to the Watch. The Tigereye replied: You know what I hate? You know what really makes my blood boil, boy? People who shrug off us Tigers like we're a nuisance. The Mercenary then stated that unless citizen Kudur did excatly what he wanted, he would have citizen Kudur pay reparations to the Gnome and that if he refused to offer so, he would be beat down and such bounty would be looted from his broken form. Kudur took off his pack and gave it to a girl he seemingly trusted and calmly waited for some Tigereye justice. The Mercenary then attacked citizen Kudur, striking him with the flat side of the axe. Citizen Kudur did not struggle or try to resist and was quickly knocked down. Citizen Nimrod now used magic in an attempt to subdue the seemingly crazed Mercenary. The Tigereye turned on him and with the aid of a Half-orc, citizen Nimrod was thoroughly trashed. Struck repeatedly, again and again after he was obviously subdued. The Tigereye then dragged the lifeless form of citizen Kudur with him into the Tigereye Compound. The somewhat smug Half-orc stood by the seriously injured and unconscious citizen Nimrod untill the Tigereye would return.
Sincerely,
[signed] Aetius Saber
Nimrod Firecaller *this letter seems to be hastily written*Agent
I hereby attempt to explain what happened between me, my friend and liege Kudur Adad, and a Tigereye dwarf known as Namli.
I were assembling a party of mercenaries and adventurers for an investigation of mine, when we came upon Namli. I asked him if he would have any interest in coming with us, offering pay. The response, was that he started to interrogate me, and Kudur, eventually accusing us of having magically asulted a gnome pickpocket. I denied the accusations, and I agreed with trying to find out the name of the man responsible. After he was done with me he started harassing Kudur with questions, but no answers were given. Kudur politely turned down his demands with good reason. This the dwarf disapproved of, and started threatening my liege, who still refused his demands. He then started hitting him with a great axe, and I felt the need to defend my good friend. I cast some protection spells upon myself, and then offensive spells at the Tigereye when he came after me. I was knocked to the ground by the Tigereye, and then a half-orc known to me as Snog, continued the beating on me as i was down, untill I fear I passed out. The orc then stood guard over me while I believe the Tigereye took Kudur into custody. When the tigereye returned, he stole half my gold, and then told me to piss off. I set off towards the upper wards tending to my injuries, and rented a room. After some rest I met Private Rayahs, who agreed on helping me with securing Kudurs release. When we got back to the Tigereye fortress, it seemed Kudur was allready released, and we returned to upper... After some hours I met both you and Kudur outside the Rock Bottom, and you know the rest.

Kudur Adad The letter is written in a flowing, elegent script.Agent Delgado, Here follows my report on the incident which occurred in the early hours of Nightal 27th, between a duergar member of the Tigereyes, who has been named before me as Namli, and myself and my companions. Intrigued by a rumour of a portal within the lower wards of the town, my companions and I entered the Lower ward in search of able mercenaries to aid an investigation. We encountered the Tigereyes mercenary Namli, a duergar. One of my companions offered him payment in return for his aid. The duergar's response was to begin questioning my companions and myself in regards to an incident which had occurred the previous day within the Rock Bottom tavern. In return for his aid in our investigation, he demanded we describe and name one of those involved in the incident. Upon this demand, I informed him, in a cordial manner, that the incident in its entire was witnessed by a member of the Watch and was currently under the scrutiny of the agents of law in the Upper Wards. The duergar proceeded to demand answers of me, under threat of his authority as a member of the Tigereyes. I responded by informing him once more that all answers he may require were available from the member of the Watch present at the time of the incident in the Rock Bottom, and made certain to make clear the fact that it occurred entirely within the Upper Wards. The duergar, despite this and the cordial manner in which I informed him, proceeded with threats of violence, claiming that as I would not describe the ones involved in the incident, I, myself, must be a guilty party to it. The fact that I was not may be easily obtained from the member of the Watch on duty in the Rock Bottom on Nightal 26th. Furthermore, he claimed he was tired of having to teach respect to those of Upper, and of the attacks those of Upper levy freely against the law abiding citizens of the Lower Wards. I once more directed him to inquire with the member of the Watch, and he responded with the threat of violence and a fine if I did not answer his demands. I refused, politely, and gave my pack and coin pouch to one of my companions. The duergar then assaulted me with the flat of his axe. To this I responded not with violence or an attempt to defend myself, but accepted it in silence. Those of the Firelord accept pain as that which must be endured, and through it be tempered and made stronger, as steel within the fires of the forge. The Tigereyes mercenary battered my flesh for a period, at which point he struck me insensate with one of his blows. When I awoke, he shackled me, to which I offered no resistance. The duergar took me within the Tigereyes fortress, into one of the cells within its dungeon. There he let me languish for a time, in which I gave prayer unto the Lord of Flames. The duergar came upon me as I prayed and repeated his demands upon threats of further violence, which he did upon me with each refusal. The dwarf culminated his attempts at torture with the threat of murdering me within my cell, claiming he would dispose of my body where none would ever find it, should I refuse to pay the fine of five hundred golden coins to him. At this point it occurred to him that I had no coin upon me, and he released me, promising his threats would come to pass, should I offer him no payment within five days. I departed the Tigereyes fortress with my blood still upon me, and proceeded to the Spellguard Tower, to give testimony and complaint before an agent of the law. The duergar mercenary Namli did unlawfully assault me and levy a fine against me. He transgressed further by doing so under the threat of murder. The death he threatened with was not lawful execution, but hidden and denied murder. I shall stress that I said clearly before him, my companions and many citizens of the Lower Wards that had the incident occurred within the Lower Wards, I would be most forthcoming with my answers. This he ignored, as he did all laws which govern the town of Sanctuary. If these laws do not apply to the Lower Wards, then I shall understand it to be a town seperate from that of the Upper Wards, and that its laws are governed not by the Council and its people, but by the arbitrary will of the Tigereyes mercenaries. To all that which occured outside the Tigereyes fortress, my companions Iryan Piper, Nimrod and Aetius Saber may attest to, as well as many citizens of the Lower Wards, amongst them a member of clan Grunstubhle, the woman known as Mary, the goblin known as Gobbler and several others of his race, and two halflings with which I am not acquainted by name. To that which transpired within the fortress itself, only the duergar Namli and I were present within the cell where he did attempt torture upon my flesh, though all those who I have named so far may attest to my entrance into the fortress by duress and bound by fetters. Within the fortress, several mercenaries witnessed the duergar take me into their dungeon, which lies beneath their hall of training. Any that wish to question me upon the incident may find me within the Rock Bottom inn, or may leave a note requesting my presence.
By light of the Firelord, Kudur Adad
Perin Fayhet *neatly printed with small characters, with deliberate and steady strokes*Please forgive this reports tardiness, but I am still awaiting the accounts of the witnesses I have contacted.
Regarding the first attack of Frelt:
I was working with Frelt and a Hin Priest (name escapes me), investigating a rat infested home for a woman named Mary. Stepping in, we were overwelmed by the press of rodents, and we were forced back out. Several rodents pressed out the door before we were able to secure it, and the rodents were dispatched by us as a crowd gathered.
We returned to house and completed our investigation there. After as Frelt spoke with Mary to collect our fee, TigerEye guard Nimli began berating us for disturbing the peace (creating more havok than we had, to be sure). He demanded payment or he would drag us all to the hold. Frelt handed him a bag of coin. We protested that nobody was harmed in the incident, and at some point, Nimli swung the butt of his Axe at Frelt, who responded by shoving the guard back. Nimli then attacked in earnest, Frelt caused disorientation in Nimli, and we cleared out of the area to avoid more extortion.
Regarding the attack of Associate de la Rey:
I walked down the stairs from Upper to Lower Sanctuary. As I rounded the stairs, I observed the Tigereye Nimli swinging his axe viciously in the air, growling threats and insults.
Having already had difficulties with him, I carefully aproached, keeping to the shadows, drawing close in time to see a blow connect with the concealed (magically I assume) form of Associate de la Rey, who fell, appearantly lifeless to the ground at that point.
I quickly made my way around, prefering not to draw the attention of the beligerant guard. I saw nobody who I could identify present, but later found others could supply details of earlier portions of the incident. I will see you receive their accounts as soon as I get them.
Regarding the second assault of Frelt:
I was returning from a job with those who I met with after the preceeding incident, investigating the sewers on behalf of the Tigereye's Captain. I found Frelt in the Tigereye base with Nimli.
My party was then detained, the door locked so that we could not escape. They were allowed to leave with a threat of sharing my fate otherwise.
Frelt then protested my innocence as Nimli accused me of attacking him. A Tigereye identified as Patrick was called in, and they both beat Frelt near to death, repeatedly. at one point, they rummaged his near lifeless corpse for coin and property. While wanting to aid Frelt, I was aware of the odds, and by doing so I would be guilty of what I was accused, after the fact.
Then they demanded 200 coin from me for my part in the first attack (a witness fine, effectively). I was unable and unwilling to comply, and in a moment of distaction, was able to evade them in their own base, and hide until some time later [OOC: I had to log for non-negotiable RL reasons I had warned of earlier in the episode].
Follow up: Since then, I have resolved the debt with Nimli, to spare myself the agony of continued incidents, and to allow the Tigereye's to maintain their deathgrip on the populace of Lower Sanctuary to insure order. It was done only for the best interest of Sanctuary, and not as an admission of guilt. If and when this terror is dealt with, compensation for the 200 coin fine would be appreciated.
I swear to the truth of all things herein to the best of my knowledge.

Asgrim Ogmoore Sir AgentI apologize for the belated report, but I've been busy for awhile.
If me memory serves me right - and this be the only thing I'm unsure of - the 26th of Nightal, one of your associates was assaulted by a certain Tigereye mercenary. Associate De la Rey entered Lower Sanctuary, after which he was quickly addressed by Namli, aforementioned mercenary. I was not close enough to hear of what they spoke, but the shoutings of Namli quickly made it obvious that Mr De la Rey was not welcome. The Grey mercenary then continued with threatening Mr De la Rey with fines and imprisonment, should he choose not to return to Upper Sanctuary. Mr De la Rey did not return, but instead insisted that he was in Lower Sanctuary stricly due to Spellguard business, whereupon he was directly attacked by the mercenary. Moments later Mr De la Rey was lying on the ground with severe injuries. Whenever he tried to get up, Namli would attack again. When Mr De la Rey finally gave up, and announced that he would return to Upper, Namli followed right behind him. I do not know what happened in Upper, as I, myself, was heading toward the Hoaran temple, but I did see Namli entering the Tigereye Fortress shortly after this episode, appearing heavily encumbered. At the end, Namli appeared to be completely uninjured, which could be explained by the fact the Mr De la Rey hardly resisted, if at all.
Present at the place were citizens Mary, Chell Adaams, a Jarold and 2 or 3 lassies, none of whom I recall the name. All was we asked nicely to "piss off", several times.
