Ok, back to my favorite subject: Parry. You see, So far Ive made 2 attempts to play a duelist type character. Despite huge amounts of amazing +parry loot, Imp parry, and a huge dex bonus, it was still impossible for the build to hold water. In a battle, a person many levels lower then you can still easily beat you.
I'm not playing a duelist now, and don't have a duelist in my plans for awhile, but I would still like the option to be feasible after my next few characters play out. But it still leaves the fact that its all about hitting twos and then preying that they cant hit you. Thats how it should be. But Garin was level 7 at his most. he was, even at 7, pwnt by a level 4 barb, because even after making 12 saves, one mess up isn't enough to balance it. (By that logic, you would need to roll around 15 saves between hits to beat the barb)
So, my suggestion, a doge AC bonus while in parry mode. Maybe a bonus of your dex modifier +1 in plain parry and -2 damage, and your dex modifier +2 in improved parry with -1 damage. Ive tested this a bit on my own, and it seems to balance out parry, bringing it to the point of near-usefulness. If you have a negative dex modifier, then it gives you a detraction to doge AC. The lowered damage makes for a entertaining fight, with one person being able to one-hit kill the other, but the other hitting 3's and never getting hit themselves.
Anyway, I know I have suggested it in the past and the general statement has been 'Don't use parry', but It really would be a great for RP and builds if a dashing swashbuckler type character was more feasible.
As always, Just an idea.

The Duelist class (not available in NWN1) offers some additional benefits that help balance the class out. Like giving a bonus to AC based on your Intelligence modifier.
I wonder if there is a way to incorporate this mechanic somehow. Maybe if you have a certain parry score + Imp. Parry feat, EfU automatically adds your INT modifier to your AC?
Also there is plenty of lightweight armor that allows for massive Dex bonus' to aid your AC also...

Parry does work when used properly. Ask EvilStrawberry.

Parry is hard-coded. It is impossible to reliably script charges to parry, and the unreliable route contributes to lag (and because it's unreliable, we'd constantly get bug reports about stuff we can't fix).

Parry is an extremely tricky skill, but can be (and has been) used effectively in EfU. One of the big things is that its useless against more than one opponent; in a one on one fight, though, it can be extremely useful.

Indeed, I have seen parry work wonders in duels and other one on one situations. I don't like the skill personally but I don't think it's broke in anyway.

I will agree with this that I've seen the parrry skill used well. And no, it wasn't meant to work against more than one opponent as stated above. it's meant for dueling. If you need to survive a fight against multiple opponents, you need the Expertise feats. Though you can't be in parry mode AND Expertise mode at the same time. Same goes for Power Attack.
The only drawback to Parry is that you can only parry as many attacks as you are normally allowed in a round. so if you are a level 5 fighter, you only get 1 attack and can Reposite only one time per round. If your opponent has two attacks (like lvl 6 fighter), you can't parry that second attack and likely will get pwnd.
You'd do wonderful in the gladiator thingy Metro is doing though...*hint, hint*

It's not great, but leave parry as is.

(Not that we could change parry if we wanted to!)
