Revvy is a "sword for hire". She was one before she got here and is it while she is here.

How she got here? A groups of "swords for hire" was sended down to save some rich kid. They screwed up and died by drow hands.. Just not Revvy.. Lucky her, She could get away and ended up where she is today.
