Morbid Dread Dear Lieutenant Lothor,If you are reading this, then I have died at the hands of Celeste Macasta or one of her agents. Embroiled in a blood feud with her adopted sister Elizabeth Kenning, she has promised to kill all of the Kenning Guards, including me.
Celeste Macasta summoned me to meet with her at Fort Mur under the identity of a half-drow named "Captain Thorn" on Uktar 7, 1373 DR. Her messenger was a halfling named "Plop," who is also her first mate.
"Captain Thorn" explained that Celeste Macasta had been framed for murder by Elizabeth Kenning and demanded that I quit the Kenning Guards under pain of death. When I asked why a half-drow would care so strongly about the affairs of a young woman in Sanctuary, she revealed her true identity to me.
I asked for one day to decide, and she agreed. Unable to find evidence to either acquit or convict Celeste Macasta of the murders, I went to her father Belo Macasta to hear his feelings on the matter. It was from him I learned that Elizabeth Kenning was his adopted daughter. This entire affair is a sibling rivalry.
Let me make it clear that at no time did Belo Macasta ever give the slightest indication that he condoned the actions of either of his daughters. He was equally concerned for both of them, and he seemed only grateful when I offered to resolve the matter as best I could.
Unsatisfied that I had not quit the Kenning Guards, Celeste Macasta promised blood in my next communication with her. I intend to fulfill the word I gave to Belo Macasta, and if you are reading this, the Macasta child has somehow won the upper hand. Her actions make it certain that she is guilty of the murders of which she is accused, and her case against my employer Elizabeth Kenning is nothing more than a desperate fabrication.
Please find enclosed the original death threat I received from "Captain Thorn."
With best regards from the grave,
Lt. Ingrid Mordis Kenning Trades and Imports Port Lothor, City of Sanctuary
ItalianStallion Mordis,You make two very incorrect assumptions.
1) I don't care to ever walk to the streets again, unhounded.
2) I don't need your help. I take it by your signature that you have declined my offer. Consider my end of the offer in motion, then, unless you care to send back immediate word of your resignation.
You may say what you wish to me while you lay in a pool of your own blood, waiting for the release of death.
Ta Ta, Captain Thorn
