[To the members of the Council] Open position at the library

Venerable ladies and gentlemen of the Council,

according to mister Fireheart's announcement there is an open position at the library. Assuming there is a lack of administrative power I would gladly assist you in this matter. And as there were no specifics detailing the work included I herewith explain to you why I feel like I qualify for the task at hand:

Born in Tenturf, a village near Westgate and educated in Oghma's teachings I spend most of my youth studying the lore of our realm. Every three tendays I would leave the village accompanying my loremaster heading for the city to learn from their libraries and to spread word to my people afterwards.

When I matured I was introduced to the temple overseer of my patron deity at Westgate. It is a place dedicated to the Ladies of the Blade who found the Key of Faith, a prayer tome sacred to Oghma's hands. It was there that I learned to become a priestess.

During my education I experienced first hand what it means to archive knowledge and make it available to the people. I restored books that where nearly crumbling to dust, negotiated with lower nobility to buy tomes they could no longer afford to maintain themselves and finally wrote my exam: "A treatise on the Crusade of Slaughter and it's impact on todays power groups of Westgate" ... which I sadly doubt you ever heard off.

After I had a lenghty discussion with my former mentor we came to a decision which should help to further my patron's plans. And that is why I am now here in this very city of yours. I am here to see with my own eyes what others dare not whisper or even dream about - the fearsome Underdark. And I shall learn and spread what knowledge I gain. What better place to do the later there is then a library such as yours I ask?!?

If you feel like I could be the right person to ease the burdon of your library staff do not hesitate to invite me for a talk in private. You can reach me in the Last Stand.

Sincerely, Nighean Nel

We do not wish your life story, we wish to know why we should give you position as the curator.

On a side note: I have a VERY powerful necklace of your faith- Seek me out.

Fireheart.

As a curator? Honestly, your announcement didn't say that and this new piece of information strucks me. I was under the impression you would just need some librarian to assist in the curator's doings. That is why I did not even dare to write about the fancy stuff I had in mind for your institution. May I ask you what became the former curator's ultimate fate?

But to answer your question - I would do the same things I had done in Westgate as an apprentice. Furthermore I'd try to establish some of my ideas. Assisting researchers, spending ressources on acquiring new books - both scientific and fantastic - employing scribes to expand on Sanctuary's chronicles, cataloguing, establishing a jury for judging intelligence gathered from suspicious books/sources that may not be apropriate for a wider audience and installing a lection event for poets, bards and scientists alike so they can read excerpts from their work to the public.

Nel

ps: These are some great news. Please keep it somewhere safe until we meet again.
