Low Road spawns

Just hit me that the low road has no spawns whatsoever besides troll gangs. Can we get some beetles and deep frogs, maybe troglodytes near the stream entrance, cave prowlers hunting for fish, etc? Just to spice things up a bit. It's one of the largest UD areas, but also one of the least eventful/varied.

Past the troll bridges there are a few spawns, some of which can be quite devastating actually.

I think it makes sense that the first part of the area is devoid of creatures, what with a huge family of trolls living nearby. This is probably as it's intended.

I remember reading in the Underdark Guidebooks at the rare bookshop, when I first joined the server, about all the kinds of creatures that you might encounter in the various areas - High Road, Low Road, Windy Chasm etc..

One of the notions that freaked me about reading these Guidebooks was the possibility of encountering a Drow Patrol out on the Underdark roads. The Badlands, it was, that the Guidebooks had me convinced was regularly patrolled by Drow. Rumours, I guess...

I've never seen one 'random' drow patrol while out exploring the Underdark, unless it was controlled by a DM.

A group of 1-4 Drow (Wizards, Sentries, Assassins) would be a cool (rare) random encounter in the High and Low Roads from time to time. Mind Flayers and Beholders can be encountered in the Sand Caverns - why not the occasional trainee and experienced Drow out on the roads?

If not the low road (in the context that LTS pointed out), then the Badlands?

Drow spawn in places. It sucks. You run or you die.

Yes, look a little harder if you -really- want to find those Drow patrols. I think they spawn quite enough and in the areas that they should. Some of those dm controlled ones might have even been a normal spawn that they wanted to give you fun with (as in, maybe give you a chance rather than having the ai destroy you instantly).

I agree that these could be scarier and more diverse mister secutor.

Just confirming that the drow patrols DO exist, of a sort (single drow mage or priest with some retainers). I've seen several drow out there in the past year and a half of playing.

Intellect devourer patrols, please.

Myself and a party of 2 others, none of us particularly made for melee, ran afoul of 3 drow soldiers and a priestess of Lolth just a few days ago. It was scary as all get out.

I can personally attest to the fact that there are indeed regular drow patrols in certain areas and they will completely wreck you if you are not careful. Three AI-controlled drow put seven well-equipped PCs to shame.

I would think any drow past a certain point, well before the Low Road, would either be rebels of some sort or solitary rangers with spider companions. Hopefully not the incredibly strong Lolthite patrols you see on the caravan roads.

Snoteye Intellect devourer patrols, please.
Seriously. Isn't there a bar for illithid somewhere? Where are all the customers?

DM's also sprinkle random spawns around in the UD from time to time to keep you on your toes, and to remind you that nowhere in the UD is care-bear land. Just don't get too used to any spawns in any particular areas, and accept that anything could happen to you while you are in the UD.

Metro and Manticores ftw!

Cool responses, guys!

Just shows me that when I get into a particular mindset about exploration of the UD, it can create tunnelvision (at least for me).

Good to know that I have by no means explored the 'boundaries' of the server either. :)

Based on what Oro, Shifitng Allegiances, Prof Death, and LTS have observed - drow patrols are fine as they are.

Based on what Sherry said - looks out! Care-bear land is where?

Snoteye, intellect devourer patrols? :P You may as well put an aboleth thrall in the Canal. (Though I do not know what kind of creature an aboleth thrall might be :D)

And I got sent to level 6 again breaking character and saving LTS running from a drow soldier right into a bunch of angry eyeballs >_<

Gatts would have totally ran/logged/gone with Mebrith if there wasn't someone behind the keyboard stubborn and wanting to save LTS XD

Thought I had logged in, oops. Please delete the above guested post.

Wait the underdark isn't care bear land? ...Damn.

Anyways, go to the Land beyond the low road and you might find the drow patrols you are looking for.

When I first joined the module, I found it shocking that there were creatures that were better at stealth than my 22 dex halfling rogue with Stealthy feat.....

.....those creatures still exist.

It ain't safe and never was.

Kill care bears...

Also, where is this fabled "Low Road"? I seek to explore further. I should make a ranger and just have fun with it. Or a rogue. Or something.
