Spellguard Associates

Hello there, Efuers, New and Old.

I'd like to take the time today to sit down and chat with you, about the spellguard associates.

"Why, pray tell," you ask, "Would the bastard Spellguard seek associates?"

We're mages, and as we do a good deal of work in dangerous elements, any and all characters from any and all classes are welcomed to attempt to apply so long as they are capable of taking orders, keeping chain of command, and the like.

Unique experience as a supplement of the magical defenders of sanctuary, No DM application required, Even to some extent some equipment.

Currently, we're experiencing a slight lull in members, and as this sexy new group forum for New People was opened, I thought it'd be best to throw in one of the cooler factions of the city (Unlike those dirty seekers <.<)

I second RwG. If you want to get involved in some real conflict, plots and other dark and nefarious bits you can't go wrong with this. There is even room for advancement - some truly spectacular associates have risen quite high in both influence and power.

Join today!

It's a good faction! Keeps you fairly busy with Spellguard related items and it's an awesome way to develop a character. Like all factions, you need to put some work into it for it to pay back, but that makes all the more reason for me to recommend it!

I recommend this faction if you wish to learn about the machine-

It's awesome.

Ubel always needs more enemies. Get involved.

PS - Faction loot.

You're a bunch of tyrants, the lot of you.

FFS TYRANNY

SEWER TOWN

Sounds interesting, but I've so many ideas floating around already! Hmm....

To whet your appetite,

Here is your Lieutenant

RWG, I hate you. I've already got three good concepts floating around up top, and you have to go and add another. Dorkface.

A fantastic way to jump directly into plots and action for old and new players alike. We always welcome more Associates!

Don't do it! They are all tainted!

Actually, the characters who I have seen in the spellguard accosiates seem to be very well developed and fun to roleplay with.

I'd just like to bump this! In the near future, I'll be pushing recruitment harder and faster than ever. I invite people who want to get involved with a faction without the hassle of writing an application, to join up! You're guaranteed excellent RP, plots, gold, loot. It's all there!

Hey, I'm working on a character who is a sorcorer and will hopefully become a notorious spellguard agent. I just got one question: What do you guys look for in a hopefull recruit? Is there a minimum spellcasting level? Does he need a certain item? Are any alignments unacceptable? etc. etc.

Don't do it! They are all tainted!

And yes, I agree with this statement, which is why I'm lawful evil. :P

yes I realize that's not just one question btw. :P

There've been Associates of most alignments, though non-Good would probably be wise. Otherwise, you don't need to have any particular items or level or anything.

Also

A very important note to make.

While aspirant Wizards and such are always encouraged to operate with the Order, and usually do so on a regular basis, they are in no way, shape, or form, associates.

The Associate program, as its creation, and now that i'm trying to revamp it to the old ways, is a non-Wizard/Sorceror faction. It is a way for classes who in no way can get into the Spellguard, to interact regularly on our super cool and fly plots.

If you've got a wizard or sorceror, you're more than welcomed to get involved as an "Aspirant", granted this is no perks around the city or anything, simply showing that you are interested in being recruited by the SG.

Casters such as Bards and Clerics are welcome so long as they fit roughly into the shape of things, and do not break the casting laws.

However the associate program is for non-wizards and non-sorcerers.

If you've got a wizard or Sorc, try to get into the order, or build a lasting relationship with the faction, rather than trying to join the military suppliment.

So, yeah. Some apologies are in order.

After chatting with some folks, OOCly, and a few hours of non-NWN related activity, I've decided my previous comment above is counterproductive to most things I've tried to accomplish thus far in my time on the server. Excluding entire classes is not something that should be done, if it can be avoided, if you wish to partake in a DM or PC faction alike.

That being said, the SG is now offering positions for Wizards and Sorcerers who do not have any intention of joining the Order, as well as non-casting research based characters, in an R&D style military program of the Associates. Joining this section of the program as a non-wizard is also a possibility, and will have its own IC perks.

A second note as I am rather long winded in my typing tonight, Icly, participating in this new branch of the Associates as a Wizard or Sorceror may assist with garnishing favor with the order, as well as proving yourself, if research or military style RP is what you would like to do ICly or OOCly as a Spellguard Agent.

As always however, you're free to pursue a position in the Order without joining this new subfaction of the existing faction, if you do not believe research or military-style activity is something IC for you r character to do, or is not your OOC cup of tea.

IC information can be found here

Random_White_Guy To whet your appetite,

I KNEW you summoned a undead creature! I should so bust you ICly!

Kidding, but the Spellguard accociates is a good idea, it gives the Spellguard some foot soldiers so that the damage dealers *cough* Paladins, Barbarians, Fighters *cough* can't send you into next week without giving you a chance to cast three spells.

Still, cool idea I'll admit. Though, I thought the Watch was all you needed for footsoldiers.

No paladins in the associates unless you plan to lose divine powers.

Thomas_Not_very_wise No paladins in the associates unless you plan to lose divine powers.

Knowing the Spellguard, I'm not suprised. And I WASN'T planning on having my Paladin join, don't worry.

(all ready on the edge thanks to IC Cheval's fancy executions anyways, so I won't risk it)

There's been a Paladin in the Associates before.

I, for one, openly embrace Spellguard paladins.

Paladins of Mystra could join freely. But, as almost every paladin of Mystra is a Paladin/Still spell Buff Sorc they would instantly get shunted into agent position.

But paladins of Hoar... Probably not. Paladins are like clerics, their god determines *alot* about them. A paladin of Sune and a Paladin of Hoar would likely be blood enemy's, despite the fact that they both hold the same alignment. I would even be willing to argue that Jergal could harbor paladins with a good-as-hell app.

There are more then one type of paladin. That is something this server to often forgets.

Every LG, NG or LN deity can have paladins as far as I know, as well as a few CG weirdoes that shouldn't really be in there but are.

Anyway! More on topic, both times I've played an Associate character I've really enjoyed the experience, and would really recommend this player faction if you want to get into plots but are having trouble with it.

Provided you don't want to join the Greycloaks. Hint, hint.

Still actively recruiting Associates, as seen by recruitment posters about Upper.

We have a fancy new building and great things happening IG! :)

Bump.

This PC faction is really incredible. It is entirely PC run, with the exception of occasionally getting orders from PC or NPC Spellguard Agents.

The Spellguard Associates is open to damned near everyone. The Associates crowd is extremely diverse, as we have two divisions right now- a militant side and a scout recon side. Any class can join, barring any sane druids who shouldn't be considering it anyways. Rogues, Fighters, Barbarians, Bards, Wiz/Sorc, Clerics, the list goes on.

If you want to challenge your RP and put your characters in some really radical situations, this is the group for you. Want to test yourself against the mechanics of the game? The Associates go through hell and back. The Order calls on them to do the most dangerous missions, to handle the most extreme situations.

Feel free to PM me or catch me in IRC if you have questions!
