Your petition will yield no results. If you send it to the council, it will herald nothing that you want.

Instead, you should follow the system we have in place, through proposing a law and having us discuss it. I care not if 100 people support publicly humiliating someone, or if another thousand support dancing naked through the streets of Traensyr. Send in your law proposals- your suggestions- and let us deliberate on them. Else you are not doing anything worthwhile, and will let down anyone who signs your notice.

Andrew Deepingdale

Councilor,

I thank you for informing me of this aspect of your law. But creating such a petition is not worthless. It allows folk to take an active role in the process.

The fact that so many persons of faith felt strongly enough to take their time and leave their name tells me that this is a thing that needs done.

So consider this my formal request to pass the following into law:

The Right of Salvation

Be it known that all folk facing serious or capital charges should have the opportunity to confess their sins and repent of them in the presence of a member of the clergy if they so choose.

The right to do this shall come at the request of a prisoner under confinement if they so choose, either before or after their trial and the execution of their sentence. This period of time will be under the lawful supervision of the legal authorities, and of sufficient time for a private confession of reasonable length to take place.

At the prisoner's request, a sending may be made for a member of the clergy to allow them to exercise that right. If no person arrives within the time it takes for a red hot iron to cool and be held, then the sentence will be executed.
