PhK and You

Alrighty, So I thought i'd run a little poll.

As i've never played an illusionist who reached the ranks of Circle IV, I've never had to encounter PhK (From the offering side).

I know there's a big ol' joke of a stimga about "Wolol invis from PhK" deaths , and the other side of how people use PhK in PvP on Subdual mode despite it being a death spell.

But I'm curious.

After all, it is a Death Spell.

Do you feel using Subdual on Death Spells (be it PhK or any higher level instant-death chance spell), reasonable? Or do you feel as a Death Spell, it is more of a "Mess with the bull, you get the horns" sort of a scenario, as to a wizard, KD can be a death spell in itself.

I've yet to use it in PvP, though the chance did occur, however I hesitated and ended up not using it. Frankly at the moment, I'm torn how to go about using the spell. Subdual makes sense in the nice department, however not everything is sunshine and roses when it comes to magic created specifically to end lives.

Just curious on what the lovely players at EFU's opinion of it is.

It seems as reasonable as "using the side of your blade" while dealing full damage, and beating people nearly to death without them dying!

I think it's possible to scare someone unconscious instead of to death; it's called fainting. As I understand it, that's what it technically is, right? The spell is designed to scare someone to death? So yes, if you want to use subdual, that's fine.

Anyhow, realism should take a backseat to niceness any day.

It's no more unbelievable than subduing someone with fireballs.

Its no more unbelievable then subdueing with Combust. CAN YOU BEAT THAT DIDNT THINK SO!

Wow.

Dr.D wins.

I can't argue with that logic, Thaks for probably the shortest legitimate poll in EFU history.

Please lock, DMs.

Poll is over.

It's not technically a Death spell.

Also, care bears do not play EfU.

Snoteye

Also, care bears do not play EfU.

lol no

I personally think a mage with the power to instantly end life also has the ability to control the power of his spells.

Therefore, he could decide whether to make the illusion kill them, or just smack them around the head with a D&D equivalent of a baseball bat.

Yeah, it's fine to just subdual people with whatever for the sake of roleplay.

'Scared me half to death..'
