Mister X: The Last Stand

Aspirant X,

You have been given the following assignment by Spellguard Agent Miller, at my request. These orders should take priority over your currently assigned duties. You will be required to lie, conceal truths, and investigate a criminal organisation from the inside.

Observe the following letter:

Nickless Captain Thorne,

Some gallows birds keep tweeting into my ear about how you're digging up the yellow tin. I want in on some plate. I'm one of the best pidgeon pluckers and rum dubbers around and I know my way about a pig sticker. Got my hopes on becoming a made man someday, you know? If you're hiring, and word about the alleys is you are, then leave word with Cyrus for me.

Your pal, Swift

Study the letter well, it has your new life, personality and name.

I am assuming you can work out the letter by yourself. You must meet "Captain Thorn" at Fort Mur, in the pursuit of employment. It is assumed you can open locks, use a dagger, and convince a new mother she never gave birth to the child suckling in her arms.

We have reason to suspect Captain Thorn serves a greater power. Find out what this power is, and the extent of the operation. Find out who Captain Thorn is, her associates, contacts, and deals. She may either be a half-drow, human or svirfneblin.

This is the letter's reply:

Swift,

Seek me out at Mur.

~Captain Thorn

Report your findings perodically back to Agent Miller and myself. I will give my recommendation to the Order if you do well, in addition to more material rewards. Councillor Jacelyn Cheval

[Our hero, the poor Letter, finds itself in a gruesome situation. Covered in fine, albeit horribly smelling, Gnomish "Tough-Guy-Turnip" flavored smoking fungus, tightly wrapped, and awaiting its demise. Mere seconds later it sizzles in agony as the flame strikes it, and slowly hisses away into oblivion, saddened that only one individual ever got to know it. It was always the youngest of the letters, but it was strong, passionate, and carried a good message. In Oghma's Eternal embrace, it weeps at its demise, wishing it had a second chance at life to prove itself as a popular novel, or perhaps as a merchant's flyer, where it could have been admired and gazed upon by all who were worthwhile. If only it had never been received. If only.]
