Ice Elemental Quest

As I understand it, there is suppose to be a reward on this quest that is at least comparable to the risk involved.

I did it with a party, we got 57 gold and a potion of True Strike. Then a little XP for the monster and pretty normal Quest End XP. That's about it.

Its feasible that there was a bug that kept anything useful from appearing, or otherwise it only appears randomly.

If so, my suggestion is that when the good loot doesn't appear--SOMETHING ANYTHING to help make that quest worthwhile does show up.

I think there is some type of near-epic armor?...

Or did they undo that?

Hence my suggestion.

You either got shafted by a party member or were very unfortunate in the loot drop.

The loot on that particular quest can be fairly amazing though, and I'm fairly sure no items have been removed or added to the drop table since it was created.

the fact that this quest is epic in effort to win is also reflected in this previous post where I was involved with also:

sorry the above post was by me: DjSpectre

I was also on the quest with Oroborous and i have to say the drop was very very poor. Especially when you consider the amount of stuff we went through to kill it. Now i admit not every quest should have a mega pay out or even allow you to break even but 56 gold and a potion is kind of meh especially considering the difficulty of the quest and the huge pain it is to get there and back in the first place.

Also as far as i recall none of us had a chance to grab any of the stuff so I'm pretty sure it wasnt a party member doing us over so it was possibly a really bad drop.

I guess my suggestion would be to set a standardised amount of treasure for the quest or a base minimum if that's possible.

Well something is wrong, since I opened the chests and found nothing.

All the party members claim they didn't get it, ooc and ic. So either some it buggy, or someone is a lying jack ass.

I have only done the quest once, so maybe we just got lucky, but is there any risk involved with this quest?

It takes a looong time to finish, but I don't think anyone in the group was ever in any kind of danger.

It seems to use a lot of resources, so the reward should maybe be high, but the risk seemed minimal overall.

It's like a Diablo II treasure system. : D

I never played Diablo II.

Does that mean, sometimes you get lucky and other times you curse horribly at your computer and come home empty handed?

No, that means the moster always drops something incredibly amazing that you can't bloody use. Darn idiot game. Sherry, why did you even bring up something that old? It's like mentioning the Who at a rock concert! Jk, I love the Who.

No, it's a lot like the other quests though, in the sense that sometimes you will end up with a treasure chest full of rat turds, and other times you will find 200 coins in the chest.

Probability is your enemy and friend when you open these chests, and sometimes you will be surprised and find a magical helm, other times you will find...

A potion of cure serious wounds.

Just finished this quest for the first time. A PC could go broke doing this.

All this talk about this quest makes me want to try it. 2 months off from EfU and you add all these quests... I love it! Even if it costs me a fortune.

The quest DID work fine for our little group last night, compelte with drops (coin was low, but there were 3 nice items).

the downside is that to split three items and ~200 coin among a party of 6 is a bit hard. And yes, it was resource intense, but could have been better had we "played our hand" a bit differently.

Beyond loot, I thought the XP was pretty good as well, so I'm not complaining (and I got no loot at all from the quest!)

I've come to realize that this quest must be working as intended, and in hindsight I really like the way it operates.

:( So much as I like anything anymore.

CRAAAAAAWLING IIIIIN MY SKIN

It's all good and fine to have "probability," but when probability means you spend all your resources and get 180 in return, it won't make it a really popular quest. Admittidly, I did two man this quest, but I used, like Oro said, thousands of gold in supplies, and got 180 gold in return. The Diablo system doesn't work here, because Diablo is mostly a single player game, while this is a multiplayer game.

It is a fun and exciting new quest, though, but I really don't think I'd ever do it again!
