I had an experience very recently that made me pretty angry. I thought I understood how the rules on PvP are supposed to function, but I'm not a rules lawyer. Generally my own attitude is the best rule is to cooperate on the level of player to player, regardless of the game world 'events'.
I understand that there are players who've got circles of friends who create characters in order to make them supervillains complete with a ready made goon squad. This is all well and good for the setting, but I think that before someone goes and involves my character in their power mad scheme by killing me (costing at least one level, I'm not even getting into that) and then stealing things from me then I think that it would be good game etiquette to ask first.
I doubt there's a rule on this specifically (I'm 'chaotic' enough that I usually observe the rule of thumb being, good behavior and politesse will usually help one muddle through) but I would like people to remember that not everyone knows all the nuances of the Forgotten Realm setting, nor should they have to in order to function here, and that if I ask you in a tell what you mean by "bow down to the power of Gargamel (or whatever) that you please answer so I can react appropriately to the situation you yourself are setting up.
