I dont know. I've seen an increase lately in fruit being thrown, and so many people when ebing hit with rotten, disgusting smelly fruit, just ignoring it.
I don't know about you guys, but rotting fruit IRL is enough to make most people I know Puke just by bearing near it - Let alone being pelted by it.
Maybe a Temporary CHA penalty, or Wis, to show that you're right ticked off. Maybe script a 20% chance for them to ebdn down and 'vomit'
Maybe a -1 to ac for a round or so?
Just throwing out ideas - But it should to -something- since people aren't reacting enough to it, imo. I've even see people try to eat it - Which Confused me, as it's ROTTEN Only an idiot would eat rotten food, knowing they would get sick, or possibly diseased.

I personally think that anyone throwing fruit should set their target to "hostile", as it is a pretty "hostile" action. Although, a certain new halfling's love of throwing rotten fruit is pretty hilarious, even if Headmaster Dederich doesn't think so!
I'd favor a temporary CHA penalty for being covered in rotten fruit as well, just to make it a bit more annoying than it currently is.

Excellent point. Secutor nailed it, I think.
I hate being wrong. Must be why I'm so hateful! :P

What so wrong with that though? I mean - Being hit with fruit in a fight would be pretty damn distracting.
The effects wouldnt have to stack, maybe just like a -1 penalty or so.

If anything, I think throwing fruit should give like a +1 to taunting.

We cant punch someone without a DM. >_> So its hard to react to fruit negatively without just grabbing the annoying thing and chuckling it off screaming into lower.
Which btw, doesnt happen enough.
Being hit by rotten fruit is nasty. Stat penalties are over the top however. At most it could be a -Concentration skill, but thats pushing it. As someone who has been pummeled relentlessly with fruit, the worst cases and by far the most annoying- is when lag or a DM makes the visual effect of bugs and stench lasting.
When you -look- you like you stink, people will react to it.
So if you want to make it have an effect, maybe the more fruit they're pummeled with, the longer it lasts. Up to maybe, 10 - 15 minutes.

Self defense to beat someone up who threw fruit at you.
You can't always tell its fruit.
May have been a +5 Vorpal Dart!
Self defense!

I think that's a good idea. Perhaps spending about two minutes in the bath at the Last Stand would remove the visual effect, too?

I can tell all of you from personal experience that when you get hit with the visual effect, it takes at least 15 minutes just to scrub it off.

I agree with the 'rotting flies' effect being used on people who've been tagged with rotten fruit, that would illict the needed RP of others who come into contact with that person.
Also anyone holding say more than 2 or 3 pieces would wreak all on their own...even if they never threw it.

It depends on the how rotten the fruit is, imo. You will likely not smell worse than you already do, living in a medieval-esque world. Everyone smells!

People carrying all that stinky rotten fruit should cop a massive penalty, imo.

If you throw fruit at someone who you reasonably presume might react in a hostile manner, get a DM.

Especially my dwarf. He farts a lot. Anyhoo...
Some penalties, definitely. Especially with rotten fruit being so cheap. Doesn't affect my life much though, so don't give my opinion the usual care and consideration. *grin*

How about something minor like a couple points off persuade, bluff and intimidate. Still a penalty but not as bad as a charisma penalty.
