Description: Polychromatic, striped balls imbued with magical properties that can be evoked by squeezing it.

What are they?: What strikes me as odd is that I cannot decipher the meaning of the colors, the inscription of a dragon, nor the mechanics behind these peculiar artifacts. I have traveled many distances to understand their history and their purpose. In my travels I met a small party of drow who were familiar with these artifacts. One claimed that they were created a millenia ago by the heads of all the houses of Traensyr in an attempt to unite their powers against a common foe. Yet another, clearly weary of my inquiries, proclaimed that they were cursed devices created by the illithid and planted in drow society to play with their greedy, competitive nature and pit them against one another. Whatever the history truly is, they did agree that collecting all artifacts would invoke a great, magical ceremony where the collector is bestowed with great powers, of good or bad I cannot say.
