If you cast light on yourself, you can't dispel it via the crafting menu. My suggestion is to make the light spell dispellable. A character might cast it to see for a time, but want to douse it before it expires.
Dispel Light
Against.
Self-dispel is only intended for beneficial effects. Light in the Underdark is usually not very beneficial.
I would like to point out that in PnP you cast light on something... like a rock. And then carry the shiney rock for light- and tuck it into your pocket to dose it. Of course- someone else could cast light on your armor, and that would be darn near impossible to get off/ completely hide away.
I don't know. I believe the spell [light] is target-able and if so, maybe you can try casting it on your weapon or shield?
Otherwise, as it can be used offensively.

I think this idea is pretty reasonable!
Some folks cast light on sneak to prevent them from hiding so easily.
Dispel light would cancel that.

Word.
People also use continuous light on a person's stealth items to keep them from sneaking about so well, as punishment.
I'd agree that Light in the underdark is not beneficial, and ergo shouldn't be dispelled.
Maybe it is more logical to consider what is logical and what is not instead of what is beneficial and what is not?
If friendly spells on you can be dispelled, light should not be an exception, at least if it was placed on you by yourself.
The point is that Light often has been used as a non-friendly spell. Continual Flame can cause a ridiculous amount of frustration for its level, making it a really great weapon against specific character types.
The description for light says a ball of light over a persons head or if cast on an item it glows for the duration of the spell. How can you hide a ball of light over your head?
Maybe have a restoration type of spell rid of it instead?
Just drink a dispel potion.

Beat me to it.
The smart man got it in one.
