Lycans

I know for a fact that lycanthropes are supported on this server, but they mechanics of it don't fit. Is not the transformation of a lycan triggered my moonlight? There is a conspicuous lack of moonlight seven miles below the surface of Faerun. If this could be explained to me, or my current viewpoint confirmed, it would be appreciated.

Not all lycanthropes are 'infected' and can shape shift at will. Also, the DMs reserve the right to alter any and all rules they want from the setting for their module.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't lycans change willingly? Sorta like Shifters or something. Believe it's "were-wolves" that are cursed and change when there is a full moon. This all could be incorrect though. Watch too many movies, heh.

After playing a lycan on EFU, I'll do what I can to shed some light.

There are two types of lycans. A) Natural Born, B) Cursed.

Natural Born lycans are the children of at-least on current lycan, and a normal subrace or Animal, or two lycans. (I believe if one parent is normal, there's a 50% chance of a lycan child).

For example, Wolves can be born as werewolves, so to speak, etc.

Natural born lycans have complete control over their shape, and are usually the base alignment of their transformed subrace.

An afflicted lycan can be of any alignment, but should they ever willingly change forms, their alignment will automatically jump to that creatures alignment. (CE for wolves/rats, CN for Werecats, Etc).

A number of stimulii aside from "The Moon" can influence the lycan change, such as emotional (Fear, etc), Pain, or Silver items. As for the issue with the moon, it is actually more associated with the Month, as well as the day of the month. (Even below the surface, Technically a Lycan would be more likely to shift during the "Full moon', though i've never seen such supported in NWN).

Weird. Your six hundred and sixty-sixth post was about lycanthropy. Irony. Thank you for shedding light on the subject. Most helpful.
