[Letter to the Council]

Esteemed Councilors,

I write to you in regards to my "Sanctuary Militia" proposal that Crowshire is lobbying for me.

It is our sacred duty to do everything in our power to help this city defend itself militarily. The Watch and Spellguard are fine organizations, but are spread thin after retaking the Canal Ward and the Alleys adjoining Lower.

A trained and organized militia could be quickly mobilized to aid the Watch and Spellguard in times of invasion. The School of War has the facilities and expertise necessary to run such an operation, and would do so with no city funding what-so-ever. The militia would have no arrest powers. It's sole purpose will be to aid in defense at times of crisis.

All I ask is for the Council to alter our charter to give us specific duties to raise and maintain this militia, and to work with the Watch and Spellguard in implementing it's use.

I realize I need to convince the Sheriff as well, and will speak to him as soon as he has time to see me.

In service to Sanctuary,

Headmaster Frank Dederich, School of War

Frank, my old friend,

The Watch currently has a reserve of approximately sixty men. That said, a percentage of the budget goes towards drilling them everynow and then to see that they are fit for duty. If you could take over many of these drills without drawing funds from the budget, Sanctuary will thank you. The economy, as it is, is in a terrible state and we need to use wisely every coin we can. Councillor Jacelyn Cheval

Headmaster

The militia is the Watch. You are free to train their members if you feel the need.
