States that you shouldn't PvP a level 2 or 3 character. I play a half orc that despises any halforc that follows a human god. When confronted with them, he often bursts into rage usually just insulting and berating them. Sometimes he's violent.
I came across a level 2 follower of Garagos in the sewers. He was bleeding to death, I healed him, then learned the name of his god. Then struck him in the back with my scythe on subdual (normally I'm on FD but was subdual for another level 3 I was dealing with down there). I did some torture, breaking bones, that kind of thing hoping to get him to renounce his god.
He said 'stupid just kill me' so I did.
Later the player evinced some disappointment with the death, and reminded me of the PvP rules. I just want to be sure: in a situation like this, I've roleplayed the scene, I gave him a chance to lie IC to escape, or to actually have a change of heart. This was a legit PvP death right?

I overlooked the not setting to dislike as sometimes I forget that too. And maybe Torg deserved death for insulting him and asking to be killed.
Here Vrirkuk finds Torg after he killed a bunch of rats, was lying on the ground stabilized and healing up to 1 hp. Vrirkuk sped up the process and healed him. Talk ensued.

The whole thing happened in about two minutes.
Anyway my characters die early and often, but after a death 30 minutes in, I wonder what the point was to playing it.

Well for my opinion there was nothing wrong on that death. Killing is allowed and you certainly didn't grief him, atleast what I can say about that. It's not like you just fragged him without giving him any chance or RPing with him in hope of finding other way.

I think this is really something better left for the DMs privately, unless both players agreed on this being posted for public scrutiny.

Personnaly i dont see anything wrong with that, but thats just me, before i kill someone i ussualy ask them OOC if its fine, but if IC there making it impossible for you -not- to kill them, i guess you have to, or else your not really role playing.

I haven't looked at the screenies, but when you say "Kill me", you're pretty much waiving your rights ; )

Yeah, I vote legit on that kill. Well within the rights of the RP exchange and he sticks to his guns when faced with a serious death in game. I though the tell exchange was appropriate at the end as well. Don't kick yourself over this one, were I in your shoes I would have done the same.

Think about it this way: you're roleplaying to the very end, even if it means a character death, and that's good. But ask yourself, if facing a foe who was more powerful and about to finish him off, would your character actually decide he would like to be killed, or rather live and lie to this bully of an orc? If you think your character would in fact take the blow, then yeah, I guess you are out of luck, because you cant say "kill me" and then have the insurance of knowing he actually *cant* kill you, thats just wrong. If you decide maybe your character actually would have opted out of dying, then you might consider that option more seriously next time. Its really up to you, but in my opinion what Oro did certainly wasnt against the rules or unfair, if a bit difficult for you.

This particular case seems legitimate.
The rule itself was established because we had a few incidents (right after we got some major publicity) of people making min-maxed characters and deliberately targeting newbies, bringing them somewhere, and murdering them just for the gold.
The main thing is, if you're instigating PvP on a very low level PC you should be extra confident that it is for an extremely good reason, and that ideally the other PC involved would have at the least a chance to talk their way out of it.
Usually it's pretty easy for the Dms to tell between legitimate PvP vs. newbie targeting or griefing. This rule helps us ban people who fall into the second category.
