Despite having a protection from evil potion up, I was given the Fear effect by a Mummy, which then chased me very slowly around the area for several minutes and brought me from 70hp to death. Every time I would get a few feet away, I would stop and the Mummy would catch up, renewing the fear aura even if I made a save. From that point I could only watch as slowly but surely I was ganked to death.
Uh, so, is there any way to change the script of the fear aura to prevent this?

Prot vs Evil protects against mind affecting spells, I don't believe supernatural auras are considered spells in D&D/NWN.
Snoteye or someone may know more, though!

I think the issue is that she made her save and it still feared her. That's not supposed to happen.
If you make your save, you should be able to be immune for that round.

supernatural auras are not considered spells in D&D/NWN
Protection vs. Evil grants immunity to mind-affecting spells, not supernatural auras.

I thought I saw pfe protects you against fear aura in the past... Is this a recent change to fit more with pnp model?

So why does it make a check then? are aura's auto-hit/auto-effect no matter what?

Plenty of things have saves that are not spells. Supernatural effects/abilities, poisons, traps, etc. Spellcraft bonuses and dwarven bonuses are another example: they only add saves versus spells.

I hate to contradict Team Noob DM here, but in standard NWN Protection from Evil does indeed normally protect against fear auras from evil creatures (including mummies). However, in lag based situations sometimes it does not work correctly. We haven't changed it from default.
So, yes, this is a bug but a bioware/lag one and not something we can do anything about as far as I know.

And as to why even if he had made the save he was still scared, it's simply because the previous fear effect was not over yet. Or so I presume, as I wasn't there to witness it.

Ooooh, Howland burn.
I do hope this is fixed, as those mummies in XXX's XXX Shop should be somewhat beatable, I suppose.

Fear auras are common throughout the server, and in 99.99% of the time there is no bug relating to PfE not working correctly.

The real issue is that despite making the save, the fear aura continued for what I assume would have been a regular duration, except that I was moved away from the Mummy just enough to exit its aura. When it came closer to hit me, I was struck with fear again, and whether I passed or failed, I would move away just far enough to have to make another save. There must be something that can be done.
