[Jaric Wettias]

Jaric,

The Way is very real. Give praise to Lathander, the patron lord of the Way, and it shall be revealed to you. We should speak in person, at the Crone or the Stand.

Seeker Alistair Orsini Dawnbringer of Lathander

*many words are scratched out, re-written, and scratched out again*

We have spoken now, and, to be quite frank, I might have paid you more attention and respect had you not been so hostile towards the supposed "Cyricist" Your philosophy is grounded in fact, I believe, and it is at least somewhat logical. I give Lathander the same respect as I give all other gods, but I do not believe that your devotion to these odd principles and prejudices will aid you at all in your search for the surface. I believe the path will not come to us through any form of piety, save following the Tymoran dogma "Fortune Favours the Bold!" Go out, Seeker, and do! Do not sit in your cave and pray for the path to be revealed, but go out and find it yourself! Your axe and my sword could forge the path if we worked together, and Tymora's light could lead the way! I plead with you, leave you petty politics and aid me in my quest!

Jaric Wettias, Militiaman of Longsaddle

Jaric,

You are sorely mistaken if you believe that my activities as a Seeker involve 'huddling in a cave and praying'. I have engaged in several expeditions to free captured slaves and done my utmost to ensure that opportunists and butchers are not able to prey upon the people of Sanctuary from a position on the Council. Ensuring that the poor excuse for a man I spoke with yesterday is instrumental in ensuring that, while men remain in Sanctuary, they will not be forced by an agent of a gruesome and macabre deity to suffer the indignities of his rule.

The driving motive of the Seekers is an unquenchable thirst for freedom from the manacles that may bind us unjustly. If I have an ounce of foresight, I know that it would be a grave mistake to allow that whelp to machinate his way onto the Council. What if he sells information on our defenses to fund the construction of a hidden shrine to the Black Sun? Or if he uses his position to divide the people of Sanctuary and set them against one another in the name of his god?

Given their history, I am at times reluctant to put full faith in the Watch. However, when ranking officers of their institution made it public knowledge who Vincent serves, his only defense was to claim that they must be the real cultists. This is not the behavior of a man with a modicum of innocence.

I still welcome you to join me in my pursuit of the surface. I suspect that we may be able to accomplish a great deal together, though you will need to prove that you are of sounder judgment than you have shown.
