Marpenoth the 23rd First year of freedom, 152nd year of Sanctuary

I've come to need a place to put my thoughts. So here it is. Many things that I have learned in my new home I cannot put to pen, for fear that they are to be discovered should this book come to any opponent of freedom, an enemy of Sanctuary, etc..

First, the thing that comes to my mind as of late. The Lower Militia. We need a defensive force. So here are my thoughts...

First we need the financing. If what I'm hoping works, does, then that shouldn't be a problem. Second, I need someone to run the Legion. Third, apply structure. Since I'm waiting for the first to do the second, I'll do the third. I'm going to assume we have three hundred citizens in Lower and the Canal right now.

Rank Structure and description, number in force, ascending order:

Tirone - Recruit, trainee; militia only, equipment is issued and some armor; flexible number; comparable to a Private in Upper

Milite - Footman, payed rank; 24; comparable to Corporal in Upper

Pilus - Commands five milites; 5; comparable to Sergeant in Upper

Quaestor - Command authority bestowed by the Legate; 1; comparable to Lieutenant in Upper

Legate - Commands the Legion; 1; comparable to Sheriff

I finally met the Scholar himself the other day. He was well spoken, and quite what I pictured him to be. I do believe that man intends to kill me eventually. Sad that such a fine mind and commanding figure should be so hell-bent on wickedness.

Lower... oh, Lower, what am I to do with you? I want peace, but they will not have it. Every day, a new and young upstart wants to get in my face about how I must be wrong, or how they have been so dreadfully wronged. Why is it that people cannot find the joy in their life and be happy? It is possible, indeed, to be happy and yet be discontent. I am just so, I think. There is so much to be done, and so many mixed opinions and half beliefs. I need to instill a flame in hearts if I am too achieve peace... but how?

Lord Ilmater, hear my vesper prayer. I have grown overly attached, and yet have become impersonal. Grant me the wisdom and guide me to the path of righteousness so that we can achieve a peace unlike any before. Light my way in my darkest hour- the hour now, where men have grown apathetic and squabble over petty things while missing the greater pictures. Grant me the fervor and spirit to lead and to turn the wrong to rights. Lord Ilmater, be with me.

Asen... an interesting man. He is very much like me, but so prepared for violence in the name of righteousness. I think Lower needs a man like him, but it needs a guiding hand to keep him from doing too much harm. A wise voice. I had to beat the hells out of him today just to keep him from killing an Ilmateri convert. I hope I never find myself in a situation like that ever again.

I have assembled my entourage, I have the support of everyone I need to do what I feel is right. Except for Winston. I do dread returning to him now, as we have certainly not grown any closer. But perhaps he sees the wisdom in my actions, and gives me at least the respect for such. I'll speak with him tomorrow.

I have much to complete:

-Make Lower safe, keep the gangs from doing anything stupid. -Clearing the Canal Ward -Helping Vincent to find the peace of Lord Ilmater -Keeping Asen out of trouble with the locals -Finding Murp in Lower Sanctuary -Helping Cheval -Recruit the premier guardian squad, one pilus five milite.

Lord Ilmater, help me and guide me in completing my goals.

History of the Silver Brotherhood

Preface Part I: The Actions of the Silver Brotherhood Part II: The Sources Part III: The Silver Brotherhood Revived, The Daunting Task

Preface I have searched all about Sanctuary for this information, high and low. Most of the reports are shaky, but I will do my best to refrain from subjective writing and to remain objective to tell of the true actions of the righteous Silver Brotherhood of Ilmater. They deserve no less than for the world to know their good works.

The first part of this book is merely the gathered knowledge, summarized by the accounts of the second part. Thus, the first part is merely a revision of the second, with all proper clarifications and tie-ins considered. The last section is to be written in by the conglomerate efforts of the renewed Brotherhood, when the time for its return has come.

Part I: The Confirmed Actions of the Silver Brotherhood Empty pages.

Part II: The Sources Drawn from "The Holy Axiology of the Crying God" by Silver Brotherhood member Sovrias Doven.

The Silver Brotherhood upheld the tenets of Lord Ilmater's dogma, as defined from this holy text written by the aforementioned Brother. We can infer that the Brotherhood had a rigid heirarchy, including "Faithful Brother" and "Grand Ostarius". The latter was most likely a rank, and given the importance of the text, Grand Ostarius likely refers to a very highly ranked member of the Brotherhood. The prior, I believe, makes statement as to the equality amongst brothers, serving as an important reminder of equality as men and fellow brothers in the service of Lord Ilmater. Thus, the Brotherhood likely realized the duality of being both leaders and equally worthy sentient beings.

The following pages hold the initial call to action, followed by the dogma and guidelines to answer the call. It is a very good book, although many issues are left ambiguous and could use some elaboration with cited examples. Regardless, it succeeds at its intented task- to provide a simple guide to carrying out the will of Lord Ilmater.

From Gran Ubel, Sewertown

The Silver Brotherhood of Ilmater was once a very active group throughout Sanctuary. They're focus was to help anyone and everyone. Coming from a woman who is quite used to receiving little to no help from Sancturians, this seems to be a very profound statement, showing the true magnitude of the Silver Brotherhood's willingness to serve and protect all of Sanctuary's interests without regards to social standing, authority, or any other factor other than their need of assistance.

The Silver Brotherhood disappeared a few decades back. Gran wasn't sure why, and the only answer she had was the theory of a strange man named, ironically, Strangebone. I'll add his testimony as soon as it comes in.
