Beetles

I love the ambient loot on this server, but perhaps beetles can leave more than just healing glands?

Perhaps some ambient "beetle gland" loot? Like "Fire Beetle Gland: Sprays Burning Hands one use", "Acid Gland: Sprays Acid Burst", "Egg Sac; Summons a small beetle to aid you.", "Silk Gland: fires a web bolt", "Juicy Healing Gland"; heals moderate wounds, "Hunter Spider Gland"; does camouflage or invisibility.

I like this idea. The ambient loot really makes the server feel more alive. Making more options, but not necessarily making them more common would be a good idea, en mi opinion.

Just add more things that drop and can be used in consecrations, alchemy, herbalism, etc.

The system has so much potential, but it's been implemented for about two weeks and nobody seems to be making any progress in figuring it out...

You just need to go to different places and defeat different creatures using different tactics. An implementation like this would lead to "beetle farming".

I think there 'would' be a way to exploit this. However, if you just made it the same chance of getting an item, just put a random chance of getting one of the different items. I know, that was unclear. Clarification!

You kill beetle. Beetle has a one in ten chance of dropping thing. Then you roll a random thingamabob to determine which item you get.

This means that you have the same chance of item, but more options for what you get. There's the mechanics of it.

Err...that lacks any semblance of logic.

People don't "goblin farm" now for goblin themed loot, or "undead farm" for undead themed loot.

Plus, other than the Beetle Farm in game, where would you farm for beetles?

Beetle Farm...already in game. What was your objection again? People may farm beetles in a setting where they farm beetles? :P (Now, I'm just harassing you on that point, but overall, I don't think people farming beetles is realistically going to happen consider the beetles USE their glands before you can kill them quite often-especially the better glands).

I can point you to a couple of places that a necromancer could farm -once per reset- to obtain raiseable corpses. Anyhow, my point is that if you can obtain a variety of ambient loot from a single source, that voids the necessity to go out, explore and find other sources of ambient loot.

...But no one does this, far as I know.

Don't be so sure, Mashai...!

I'll look at the beetle drops whenever I am feeling motivated and have the module next.
