Logging to Avoid Trials

Lately we've observed a rather high number of cases of people logging out before going to trial. It is perfectly understandable that a player may feel somewhat demoralised and disinclined to play following an apprehension, especially if the circumstances under which said player was apprehended had her at a serious disadvantage (for instance, being greatly outnumbered). However, please keep in mind that nobody ends up in a capital cell without reason, and the player probably did something to end up there.

Sometimes a player has a legitimate reason -- that is, real life business -- to leave, sometimes it's to avoid an imminent trial. There's nothing we can (or will) do about players logging out before trials, both because there's no way to know for sure why a player logs out as well as because we really can't be bothered to waste our time being grumpy. Just keep in mind that, when this happens, the responsible law enforcers (and Councillors) are being punished OOCly for playing their characters because the logging player exercised bad sportsmanship (in the cases where the player logged in order to avoid the trial) and failed to accept the consequences of IC actions. Don't expect to get away with being a bad guy, and don't be a sore loser when you don't get away with it.

Actually,

It's very obvious when someone does this because he or she can't handle PvP maturely, as opposed to if a real emergency comes up. Logging in a huff because you're not mature enough to handle PvP on EFU is a great way to let the DM's know who to avoid doing favors for in the future.

Furthermore, if a player finds that he or she is too overwhelmed with grief and anger over a capital arrest in this silly video game to see the consequences through in character, I think you should ask yourself why you are playing here, and not somewhere else.
