Letter to the Sheriff

Sheriff Walters, this is a letter of complaint to be filed about one Private Cail Durris. Private Durris for some reason believes he is suppose to release criminals who are in your jail before their sentence is over, and before they can be dealt with by the authority that arrested them.

I appreciate the cooperation between the Watch and the Spellguard. We have much in common in our desire to instill order in this city. Specifically, this has occured in two cases. In the first, it was of little importance.

In the second case, a member of the House of Light called Dell was arrested. He had been in possession of one of the drow knucklebones that brings such danger to us all. He had been attacked and the bone stolen. He refused to cooperate with the Spellguard in its recovery, refused to give details of the attack in which he lost the bone, threatened Agents of the Spellguard for demanding its return and information that would save lives in this city and of slaves in Traensyr. I arrested Dell for his interference and to better condition him for a hand over of integral information.

Private Durris saw fit to release him before I even made it to the jail. I was not informed until I arrived there myself only to find Dell missing.

Agent Hectra

A courier rushes over from the Spellguard Tower to the Watch House to deliver the letter, only to discover Sheriff Walters in the middle of devouring a large salad made from fungal greens, sliced mushrooms, barrelstalk meat, and sliced rothe beef, covered in two layers of fire lichen sauce. When the courier finally gets the Sheriff's attention and passes over the letter, Sheriff Walters looks at it for a minute and then directs him to find Lieutenant Alders and forward the letter to him. As the courier disappears out the door, the Sheriff pulls a flask of applecap cider out of his desk to help wash down the meal.

Agent Hectra,

We take your concerns very seriously. Private Durris has been instructed to refrain from releasing prisoners arrested by the Spellguard for the time being, and we are presently conducting an investigation into his conduct to determine what disciplinary measures ought be taken. The Watch appreciates the efforts of the Spellguard and takes Sanctuary's security very seriously, particularly in such trying times.

Please forward any additional concerns directly to me.

Lieutenant Alders Sanctuary Watch
