shame on those that stole a priests gold and belongings

So, my new pc died, he's a priest, name is Conrad. It happens, I know. What gets me is that while I was dead, and i'll admit it, it was an hour or so until I respawned, someone stole all my gold and basically anything worth anything from my pack... The rest of my stuff was still there but I mean, come on, isn't there like an unwritten rule here? Don't take stuff from someone's pack when they're in fugue?...

Just venting really, I had a fair amount of gold for a level three'er...

No.

All the rules are written. I think that that is purposeful too. So everyone really knows they are rules.

No, that's neither a written nor unwritten rule. Some DMs ask that, during major (and thus chaotic) events, people hold off on greedily full-looting people -- in those cases, you won't be in doubt. Other than that, people are allowed to loot bags lying around.

[Edit] ^What Oro said.

Ahh, the sadness of getting looted while in the fugue, ..wait.

Being gone an hour is quite a long time to expect a passerby to assume that you had not quit the character I think.

There have been many posting about getting looted while in fugue, and while everyone says it is poor form (to do it haphazardly/higgledy piggldy/hodgety podgety), it can hardly be stopped.

Side Note: If you were questing with others, which you should, its always best to tell the others whether you plan on returning or not.

I think it would make far more sense to ask before looting someone's pack, tbh, especially while on a quest.

Is it neither written, nor unwritten.

However, it is not a pleasant thing to do.

If you were fugue for an hour and were alone when you died then, I'd say that it's painful, but fair that your stuff was taken.

if you were in a party and died and your group didn't rez you, but instead looted you, there is two issues with this: 1.) party looting in this manner is against server rules and/or 2.) it may have been IC to take your things which should be communicated to the player, or someone may be holding the good stuff as it was all they could carry and you just need to seek them out ICly.

Also, why were you in the fugue for an hour? Did you log out at any point during your fugue time?

If you did log out during your fugue time and didn't mention to any of your party members (if in a party) that you were coming back and would respawn, then they likely thought you perma'd the character.

Please give us more details as to the circumstances of the death.

Thanks for the posts, I was posting in a venting state... I was out for an hour because I didn't think it was safe to come back to where I died. Then I logged off because of various other reasons. Came back in the mausoleum. Now that I think of it, yes, it is logical that I lost a bunch of stuff.

Such is the harsh world of the underdark.... I'm so addicted to this frickin server....

It's a harsh world, but hang in there!

Losing everything isn't always a bad thing.

It allows you to get it all again.

Which is fun! :D

Take it from a guy who lost full plate, magical cloaks, weapon etc... everything I had on a character and got similar stuff back. Then lost it again.

well it sounds like you know what and why it happened.

And consider this when you've lost all your stuff: it's like spring cleaning for your backpack! You get to have a nice lean and mean inventory instead the bloat that it eventually becomes over time.

I think it's an acceptable thing to do if you died in the Underdark, and not on a quest with some people.

Oh, I was out with a group exploring an area where one of their friends had died. I wasn't alone. I seem to not learn my lesson though, I knew our group wasn't strong enough to head out of town with just the 3 of us.

I'm not sure who took my stuff. It's ok, water under the bridge. Maybe now i'll learn.... possibly....

Acceptable under any circumstance as long as you aren't questing or a DM forbids it. OOCly anyways.

IC stop pack plundering, Trap it.

that would be an interesting trap, if you could set up a pack and then put traps all around it.... waiting for someone to come and snoop....

Looks like we're done, then!

Well then, it would seem that everything is wrapped up in a neat little package.
