William Donrick addresses the people from the podium in the Town Hall, before having the transcripts of his speech written up and posted around Upper Sanctuary.
- My fellow citizens of Sanctuary. I feel I must congratulate each an every one of you, for electing one of the most active Councils Sanctuary has seen in years. I find I must congratulate my peers, on continuing to serve Sanctuary’s citizens as dutifully now, as you did the first day we were elected into Office. I congratulate the Watch, on continuing to keep us safe from the threats that continue to loom out of the darkness beyond our walls, and I congratulate the Order of the Spellguard who, despite only recently returning to Sanctuary’s bosom, have gone about their duties free of prejudice, despite past troubles.
Each morning, I take time out of my day to stroll about Sanctuary and watch the city as she wakes. Each morning, I find myself breathless, I am taken aback by the strength of Sanctuary, and everyone who walks her streets. The cooperation between citizens is incredible, with every one of you doing your part. Sanctuary is alive; a living, breathing wonder.
And as any living entity does, Sanctuary heals. It is true, that the past year has seen Sanctuary in some of her darkest moments, yet it is also true, that with time, these wounds will be tended and Sanctuary will be great again. I promise to be a voice for the people, to deliver a Sanctuary free of fear and corruption. I will see that there will always be protection for Sanctuary’s great citizens; I will see that there will be care for Sanctuary’s sick and injured. A future for every son and daughter, and help where it is needed most.
Though Sanctuary is great, I see room for much improvement. Only with time and effort can I see my promises fulfilled. This is why I stand before you today, and ask each and every one of you to help me keep the promises I make. In a few weeks, the time will come for you all to make a choice. Who will sit upon your Council, and see your will done? I ask you once more, to entrust to me with this honour, so I may see Sanctuary great again.
Long live Our Sanctuary!
