I used an acidbomb from a charged item today against a crowd of five enemies. I just threw it on the ground near them all. It did 1 acid damage to all of them and an acidic mist appeared. That's it- no more damage, no nothing! The cloud disappeared right afterwards.
Acidbomb
It is normal. Acid bomb, like fire bombs, deals good damage on one target. Those around take little damage.
That means you missed your attack roll.
Staring Death It is normal. Acid bomb, like fire bombs, deals good damage on one target. Those around take little damage.
I think you are referring to alchemist fires and acid flasks maybe? The bombs themselves should do much more damage.
Alchemist's fire/acid flasks will deal 1d6 (or so) to a target, if any is targetted and hit, and those around take a small amount of damage.
Acid Bomb and Fire bombs will deal more damage to a target, if any is targetted and hit, and those around take a small amount of damage.
If no one is targeted/hit, all around will only take a small amount of damage. So really, the moral of the story is: target something rather than the ground.
Hope that clears what I meant to say.
I was under the impression that they were much more useful than that. What are they SUPPOSED to be, DMs?

'Target' an enemy with these bombs. They will easily do up to 40 damage to that single target. Even more if you get a '20' on your ranged touch roll. Critical Hit acid bombs really have an impact! Throwing them next to your enemy will do little good.
they have to be thrown at a target.
