[letter for Council Chairman Crowshire]

Councilor Crowshire,

My name is Lucius Westmore, a priest of Ilmater who works in the Lowers. I don't know where you stand on the Lysik incident, but regardless I believe that his head being piked in front of the Lower gates is a step in the wrong direction for a number of reasons and ought to be removed and put somewhere to respect the deceased Mr. Lysik.

Firstly, the Lysik case was highly disputed already. By raising his head in such a brutal showing you will only revive the division that his execution caused.

Secondly, by showing his head you instill a spirit of distaste, anger, or even hatred in the populace. It is a brutal and unethical means of trying to prove supremacy.

Thirdly, I have a personal note that I must be honest and open about. James Lysik was a friend of mine. He wasn't perfect, but none of us are. He was accused, tried and found guilty of a grievous crime. I know these things. But as a peacemaker in the service of Lord Ilmater, I find great trouble in walking past the dour visage of my bosom companion, my slave freeing partner, and a man whom I respected regardless of his very different opinions in order to continue my efforts at promoting peace between the Uppers and Lowers.

For these reasons, I beg that the Council have the head removed immediately before any further problems arise. Thank you for your time.

Painbearer of Lord Ilmater

Good sir,

It is no secret that I did not agree with the judgment passed, but the trial and the retrial (tribunal) was according to our laws. I have already tried to have the head removed by council vote, before I received your letter. Unfortunately council majority is against me, seemingly thinking it is useful as a warning. I could further discuss the matter if you would be willing to meet with me in person.

Respectfully, Chairman Wyric Crowshire
