[Lucius Westmore]

Friend,

In your efforts to herd the naturalists back to Lower, make an effort to put them back in the old goblin warrens so that they may farm and dance about without choking trade. The last thing we want are ships getting beached on underwater fungus.

Mister Guerini

I understand your concern, but surely you don't believe that after such a sound defeat at the hands of the Slugcrawl they will have the population to even attempt making such a large claim on the land.

Of course, it was their home and ought still be should they return. This time, it's going to be a little more organized and a great deal safer. I don't think they can justify refuting this notion. They are a peaceful peoples anyways; I know that any troubles can be worked out should they arise.

Lucius

Lucius,

Before it 'belonged' to those nuts, it was Lower's property. During the blood-stained rule of the Tigereyes, trade flowed in and out. It was retained by the independent people of Lower after the rebellion until the naturalists seized it. I have no problem with them wanting to seed the land and destroy Spelltyrant research, but I don't want them choking trade and hurling mud at our ships. They can do their thing just as easily in the old goblin warrens.

Is this going to be an issue you intend to press?

Aurin Guerini

This letter, although lengthy in typical Westmore fashion, is much more informal than usual.

We should discuss it face to face. You obviously feel very strongly about this issue, letters won't do the importance of the conversation justice.

Either way, we may have worse troubles. People are moving into the Ward, as expected, but I did not expect anything as large as Macasta's organization to make such a move so quickly. This will probably concern you a lot more than me, but the feeling is still mutual.

Also, I believe I miswrote my last letter, so let me clarify my opinion. The Mycopleans will not, for various reasons, give anyone any trouble. Nothing that they may do will cause conflict with anyone else, so long as the situation is handled diplomatically as I am attempting to do. They will not fling mud, they will not hinder trade. In fact, I know no others that would be better suited to grow the crops which Lowersmen may ship out. If there is a reason you believe that the Mycopleans might hinder our efforts, make them known when we next meet and we'll work it out. Of course, not a single one has come up to me, so as it stands we're merely chasing shadows.

You seem tense. Yes, this job will be difficult. If I weren't positive that you and your company were up to the challenge, I wouldn't have asked you to help. I trust your abilities and judgement, and I ask that you do the same for me.

Lucius
