An open letter, obviously a copy of another with the address showing in the upper right, addressed to the Council of Upper Sanctuary.
Tyrants,Throughout the course of history there are times when seemingly small events or circumstances somehow bend the fortunes of men far beyond any peceived outcome. Today you have brought such an act upon yourselves.
Though I know you have no reason to believe me, I tell you now truthfully and without reservation that James Lysik was innocent of the crimes for which he was killed; a victim of the new "justice" of Upper Sanctuary. You have crafted laws now that can see a man stoned to death for sitting at a table outside of the jurisdiction of the Watch or the Sanctuary council. Laws that can craft a criminal of an innocent man for simply speaking with someone you have deigned an enemy.
James Lysik was a patriot of Sanctuary, driven into hiding for years by the tyrannical rule of unjust law. James Lysik was a man who put his life on the edge of freedom's blade many times, never asking for reward or praise. Most of all James Lysik was my mentor, and one of my dearest friends. A friend to all of Lower Sanctuary. A hero.
You call us Lower Sanctuary like it is an insult because we dwell beneath you. You think that law and order make you better then the common men who simply want to live their lives free of interference from a moral minority that would force their will upon us. You call us Lower Sanctuary, when you should call us Free Sanctuary.
By your acts today, you have made all of Free Sanctuary your enemy. Now you will learn that there is nothing so frightening as a man with nothing, defending that one ideal that he cherishes most.
William Pearce Danielson Free Sanctuary.
