BATTLE OF MYCOPOLIS - Awesome fun, and a comment

Thanks to the DMs, (Snoteye and Johannes? any others?) for great fun to be a part of the memorable attack on the Slugcrawl Tribe. I can only imagine how hard it is to coordinate that.

The RP was memorable, the action non-stop and heart pounding, and the overall experience was pure awesome.

Thanks to all DMs and players involved. The RP was golden.

However.....

I'd like to say that whoever chose to have their character dry loot my corpse while I sat in the Fugue, completely unaware and unable to respond to these actions - YOU SUCK.

I suppose if you notified a DM you were doing it, and my character has some IC chance of finding out and pursuing the thief, then it's fine. But I suspect that some cheezeball decided it would be ok to take a valuable ring of AC deflection AND my 400+ gold and think they rock.

You don't. You suck.

I can handle losing a level, using all my potions and supplies up, and losing my gold, while not getting anything significant as spoils. It was an awesome experience, and monster fun. The DMs and players involved created a wonderful situation I was grateful to be a part of. DMs that give out rez scrolls on DM events deserve much appreciation and gratitude for lessening the blow.

But thiefboy, you took some of the joy out of my day when you OOCly decided to take a paltry amount of gold and a commonplace though valuable ring.

Had you taken my badass flail and twirled it around in Lower, that'd be different. That's fun, and we can RP your character's decision to do it.

I can't do shit when some loser dry loots a PC corpse and their PC makes more profit from their day than my bum who almost made it through the entire battle that took like two hours, but died in sight of the final objective.

I don't care if the DMs can or can't do anything about this. I just want to you to know that if you gank someone's loot without any chance for the player to respond to it - you suck.

That is all.

Looting is one of my personal pet peeves, and I think everyone should be willing to step in ICly or OOCly to stop someone from dry looting.

Edit!

It was a awesome time and yeah when someone does something as tastless as that it takes away from it. The assualt was the longest and most brutal i have had on the server to date. That's why you use them consumables ladies and gents and i think i used them all. Hey there was pay!?. :D

On the Tiralin scale, I give it a 3.

I gotta chime in here:

Battle for Mycopolis = AWESOME!!

Never has my heart pounded so hard or my hands shook so badly as I clicked madly away at anything that was a goblin and/or a healing item in my quickslots.

The RP was great, the fear was real, the chances of survival next to 0. Hell the group nearly gave up, until a few of us rallied them up for one last go and pushed through the Lower Gates to avoid certain death on that rickety bridge which should have probably been destroyed during the battle.

The place was pandemonium of the most fireballing, archer dodging, suicide bombing time! Like half the server died! it was that wonderful! Well not for them, but the idea that we had so many involved in it was memorable!

If anyone has screenies post them ASAP! Even if they're from the Fugue as you were part of it too!

Credit goes to the no doubt numerous DM's around for it and I have honestly NO clue how the hell you kept up with all of it.

Great job, great job, great job!

As for the dry looting loosers out there, if you are going to steal something - at least have the decency to see if the player is still online and send them a tell about it. And for godssakes don't steal with a character you never play or if you rarely log onto the server.

Walking in during the end of an epic struggle and walking out with l33t l0otz that we all fought for is a cheap shot at the reward deserved to those who made the effort and who took the risk for you to have that prime-beef choice theiving chance.

You should feel ashamed that you robbed a deserving player of the fun and enjoyment that was had during what was a chaotic and dangerous event.

I missed out on most of this due to an early disconnect, but the beginning of it was awesome. I got to make a little prayer to Kurtulmak, show some IC disrespect for a powerful gnome and get away with it (no hard feelings, whoever that was, right?), and cast my favorite spell. I got back IG in time to patrol the perimeter with Captain Malcer (who came up with a good IC excuse to help prevent some of the looting that was going on).

I just wish I could have been there with the crew when they faced off with the chief. I saw one of my friends's location change to Fugue and I shed a single tear. (Okay, not really but I was a little sad to see a cool character hit the fugue plane. He ended up getting rezzed before I even found out ICly that he had died, so it was all good).

Kudos to those who managed to stay in the fight the whole time. You guys are official heroes of Sanctuary.

Man you guys were afraid of the bridge. For like twenty minutes every single character played with the notion of crossing it, made attempts to rally people and charge, or just stand at the other side and try to fight. It was the scariest bridge EfU has ever seen. And it was just a bridge!

Yea but... it was so LONG Exile!

Ha, yea in the middle of it all djspectre shoots me a tell. It goes precisely this,

"My hands are actually shaking."

That pretty well defines the whole thing, at least for me and spectre it seems. I saw it from beginning to end, every wane, every turning point of the battle. Nuts, I say. Frieken nuts. And somehow I survived to the bitter end, but got the final blow against the big bad chieftain. I must say, that was the pinnacle of all PvE/DM plot related combat I've had yet. I wish those that had died had gotten to keep playing through the fight, it was beyond intense to say the least.

Well done on everyone's part. As for the looting, man, this really has to stop. It happened here, and it happened at the Red Skull attack. There really isn't a good justification for all this nonsense. Just because it's IC doesn't mean it's necessarily justified. You may play a Chaotic Evil serial killer, but that doesn't justify killing everyone you see in your path. It's called griefing, it can get you permenantly banned in the bad cases. This, at least in my opinion, is pretty much the same. Instead of killing the character, you've raped it; and I mean that in the fullest sense of the word.

STOP BEING A LOOT WHORE. GET INTO THE FIGHT. Enjoy the game and the story and remember, you can't win EfU. Because Oroborous already did.

When I tried to log in the server capacity was 40/25, so I missed this event... But I'm happy you all had great fun! Way to go! :)

The first five minutes after which I was brutally murdered by a goblin bomber were great.

And those goblins annoying everyone in the fugue were annoying.

And the person who drylooted two thirds of my merchant stock and my gold deserves to die, but to be honest, I care less about the loot than the xp, so I'm glad I got rezzed.

Heh,

That bridge was nuts. At one point, a single goblin came across that was a named warrior or priest, and I downed the rest of my decent potions to stop the counterattack.....and he just went back across the bridge.

LOL.

No one knows this part except the DMs, but at one point Erik went invis, went to the edge of the bridge, and unleashed a potion of ice storm at the mass on the other side. At least two goblin magic users went down, and the rest were weakened.

Really disappointing to not see the end, but it wouldn't be tough if everyone COULD make it to the final battle.

If we were RPing corpse looting, I think it would be right up there with necrophilia in Sanctuarian culture and people discovered would have both their hands cut off.

I used to care about XP, supplies, getting phat loot in the end. I think I've finally evolved that I value the experience far more than the rest of it - and the only disappointment I have is not preparing him well enough to make it through to the end.

Garem's Lucius was the best of a lot of great RP by a lot of great players. My character would have turned back at the Lower Gate if not for his leadership.

Thoroughly enjoyed 99% of it.

Other than the dry looting thiefboy.

Garem Yea but... it was so LONG Exile!

Frieken nuts..........

I really was shaking, I couldn't type for crap. Just as I was about to emote something another bomber would show up and I'd have to hit ESC to clear the message and shout "BOMBER!"

I did think it was very cool when I went with Aurin and a woman (think it was Zoe) to the Lower Gate and the DM's hadn't made those goblins hostile yet. We found the traps and I seriously considered trying to invis past all of them.

But in the end our recon group went back and rallied the troops to fight the fey in the canals to get across the river (true military-take-the-other-shore style) and then storm the gate.

A hell of an adrenaline rush - especially after that undead clan cave worm spirit level drained me and no one had Restoration or Greater Restoration to fix me!

And who's sadistic DM Idea was it to summon a Succubus with DR of +2 or more? LOL!! Ttook us like 10 minutes to kill that winged bitch!

Marfdasko And those goblins annoying everyone in the fugue were annoying.

Punishment for being in the fugue after killing so many goblins!

Keep in mind the slugcrawler gobbo PCs weren't really supported too well by the dms as we got shot up by both npc slugcrawler and discovered the undead cave worms just before the attack so we were just isolated, 3 pcs against the lot and really didn't have too much fun in that. I was waiting for it to be fixed so we could go back and then I got clocked alt-tabbed while waiting for a response and got sent to the fugue with a [STAB] by someone probably wanting to loot the gold I had (had 0, sucka). Yay.

I had waited like 1 hour for that, and gave up the chance to go on my actual characters and couldn't see any of the action taking place. The fugue was just a bunch of PCs that were generally just idling all RPing "oh you lost goblin, I am just going to sit here and wait for a res without interacting with anyone save the battle status report on the recently dead", so I had to spice it up.

Also I hate Dry Looters!

I can Understand sneaking past all the fighting (with Invis or being that sneaky halfling.) And Looting all the treasure at the end. Or looting just gold and leaving everything else. But Completly full looting is ridicolouse.

Also I can understand full looting in one circumstance and that is if somebody is mugged or beat to the floor by a mugger and that mugger leaves the subdued body. (of course only under Dm Supervision So that beggar watching can tell the guy you did it when the guy gets up.)

Bridge commander Gruxpux was holding things down with supressive fire. That bridge fight RULED.

Yes that bridge and the suppressive fire did rule. All the surviving players at the time were hiding behind the buildings where the wagon-eating rothe used to be. It was like a triage center for the wounded and dead. Stealthed or invis characters had to run out between fireball blasts and retrieve the packs for healing the wounded.

I really can't describe just how intense it was. This was a reverse invasion, the players invading an occupied area instead of monsters invading our city. We all knew this could be the end of our characters. And if we had all failed, I think it would have been the largest collection of simultaneous permadeaths ever

There was some humor among the fight though. So a Goblin Bomber ran up and blew the hell out of a few people including Lucius Westmore. He heals himself and takes an attack position.

Then I see this text above his head:

"Item Crafting Successful"

I was like WTF?!

Then: "Item Crafting Successful" AGAIN! I nearly fell out of my chair!

The lunatic was CRAFTING HEALING WANDS in the middle of a fight!!

That's how you stay alive, craft in the fight, you figure oh damn I'm going to run out of healing. Not anymore!

Ahha, yea, about that...

I bought a few CSW wands beforehand. I made two for the fight, but had a few left over I just got too sidetracked to make. I knew that the fight was only half over at best, so I went ahead and made another pair. >.> In the end, I had used all but 6 charges of my last wand.

I had crafted two wands, one of healing, and one of summoning. Sadly I just instantly died before using many charges. Still, my elementals kicked the rats' butts while everyone was stunned.

I would've been there from the start, but I crashed right before the troops got to Lower, so I came in as reinforcements with Eonez.

If you are talking about the 'brain rats', yeah, those of us there on the island were stunned except a couple folks that were in the back healing. Those elementals saved our collective asses.

Freakin' awesome battle.

Shame I didn't get to see the whole thing, but coming in partway through and helping kick ass was great.

Well done and thanks to all involved.
