Slave Gladiators?

I don't know that much about what slaves are actually used for in the Underdark. I know Mind Flayers have thralls which they use for sort of gladiator fights, among other things. But what about other races, do they have slave combats? And if so, do they ever have fights like a Drow slave against a Mind Flayer thrall, with their masters eyeing each other from the background?

And what about Mind Flayer thralls, are they ever free of their masters' control? I mean those gladiator thralls (because I'm thinking of a character concept), do they have any amount of free will, and can they remember anything about those fights, or about anything else for that matter?

Any thoughts, or a link where I can find this info?

Thanks.

It would definitely make a nice prelude.. where a bunch of slave FIGHTERS (of opposing sides)

Escaped right under the nose of the illithids and drow looking on as they fought.

Maybe some powerful alternate agency would be needed to justify it story wise :)

If someone should hold this kind of prelude, I'm in.

:D

We've done a gladiator prelude in the past. If some players want to get together a time for it in the prelude forum, I'm sure a DM would run it. It's a pretty simple type of prelude to put together, and I think we still have some decent areas for it.
