Necromancer Aleczumberzeil - Pissing Crone

Greetings,

It is unfortunate that brilliant minds must be beset upon one another. I've read of your accomplishments, and admire the fear you've struck into your enemies. Regardless, as an Agent of the Spellguard, it will be my duty, honor, and privledge to hunt you down and destroy you. I will be honest; your time on this plane is limited, and the end is drawing near. That said, I would like to get to know you if you are interested. It is possible there is a solution that exists to your continued nuisance to Sanctuary that does not have to involve your gruesome, and quite public death. To ensure I am not setting some kind of a trap, arrange a meeting at a place of your choice, not Lower Sanctuary, and I will meet with you alone.

Sincerely,

~ Agent Opalshore

Agent Opalshore,

Your claim to brilliance is not something I share. I am not particularly special, simply curious and willing to objectively study that which others do not. You speak of fear, I wonder at that. I have routinely and consistently crushed the very finest that seek my death, yet I do not murder nor steal. The truth is that I seek to use the unliving for the benign purpose of protecting and aiding humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. If I cause fear in the hearts and minds of Sanctuary's people, I am saddened, and consider it a failure.

I do not even know if you know, but early on in my career I approached the Order of the Spellguard with great respect and made my intentions extremely clear to a representative of your organization, and asked for the Spellguard's blessing to continue my work. I was in turn treated with respect, and encouraged to conduct my research, and assured that although the Spellguard could not publicly support me, that they would not persecute me.

At some point it was decided that I would be hunted down, and ever since then I've had to crush one Spellguard agent or associate or another when they would invariably try to murder myself or my associates. Never have I killed any of your order, or even shared the secrets I know of your order that could damage you publicly, and indeed I have even returned equipment after exacting assurances that this time I would be left alone. Of course, those assurances are invariably broken.

So you must understand, I do not have a great deal of respect for the Order of the Spellguard.

Still, I am prepared to meet with you personally at the shop of Thomas Alqvin and you may ask me what you wish. However I do respectfully request you leave your arrogance and self-flattery at the door as I find such things extremely tedious.

Aleczumberzeil te Esoterotept

Scholar,

I've just found the time to read through your letter. In the Lady's name I promise no hostility when I come to meet you. (And ask the same from you and your associates naturally.) I must apologize for the bravado in my previous letter, I fear I was a different man entirely while penning it. I hope to meet you soon.

With nothing further,

Agent Riesse Opalshore

Scholar of Knowledge,

I write to you with a sympathetic quill, and a heavy heart. I understand you are frustrated, upset, agitated, and filled with anger over what has transpired. I too, have lost several beloved associates of mine. None was taken fairly from me, and none was lost in a way I would've liked to have seen. To this very day I lament the loss of what was possibly the Spellguard's most innocent, and honest Associate we have had. However frustrated I am to this day, sometimes we must accept that things happen independent of our desires and guidance. Brilliant minds can illuminate any path we desire to our intellectual lessers, but how often do you really think it is that they listen?

That said, there is no reason we still can not meet on peaceful terms at the Tavern of Undeath. I did not spent the last 100 years contemplating this conversation for things to go awry because of bickering over the inevitable. The squabbling politics of Sanctuary take a back-seat to this conversation. Perhaps you will grant it to me before our respective associates are thrust battle.

Sincerely,

~ Riesse Opalshore
