Freedom, contrary to common sense, is not free -- For your freedom to be, a few needs to volunteer to stand and watch, to protect and to stay vigilant to the many threats below.
Watchman and other defensive agencies work tirelessly to deliver this freedom to the good people of Sanctuary, but for this freedom to be, the strong must take the responsibility to look out for others on their shoulders.
Always remember that the pain you may suffer in giving your body and soul in defense to this bastion of freedom inside the most dangerous lands of Faerun is only temporary and that your honor will be eternal.
As a Watchman, you will:
Enforce Laws - Members of the Watch keep the peace, preventing crime when possible and arresting perpetrators of illegal activity when able.
Investigate Crimes - Watchmen are expected to look into accusations of criminal activity, or determine the truth behind an illegal act.
Issue Warrants and Bounties - Members of the Watch should issue warrants on particularly dangerous Capital-level criminals, and post a bounty for a criminal's capture when it can be afforded.
Provide Criminal Records - The Watch is responsible for coordinating the criminal records on all of the citizens of Sanctuary. The Watch is responsible for, at the request of the Council, being able to provide a complete profile of any citizen's criminal activity.
Defend our Borders - The Watch mans the gates of Sanctuary and defense posts along the borders Dunwarren, claimed and unclaimed alike.
To aid in your duty, - You will have access to your own personal quarter and locker. - You will have the chance to purchase supplies at a lowered cost. - You will received gear enchanted by the Order of the Spellguard. - You will be treated as a brother by our own for there should be no division within our agency.
To Join, - You will need to prove your loyalty to the city, - You will need to have a flawless criminal record, - You will need to have avoided association with known criminal elements, - You will need to acquire the distinct recommendation of two qualified privates or officers of the Sanctuary Watch.
To Serve Without Joining, - You will need to become an undercover informant and help indirectly with investigation, or become a reservist and help directly with border problems and criminal acts.
As a Reservist, - You will have authority during Invasions. During an attack Deputies are treated the same as Privates in most cases, except when only a small number of superior officers remain or there is a significant number of Deputies on hand.
- You may be promoted to Deputy Marshals. In the worst case scenarios, or in preparations for such, a Deputy Marshal is chosen by ranking officers to take command should no one else be able. These can be selected in advanced and noted in records or "promoted" on the spot. A Deputy Marshal that successfully organizes his men and suvives is often inducted into the Watch, along with most of the Deputies he took charge of.
- You will serve as Manpower. The reserves became a popular choice for idealistic young men disinterested in law enforcement or older military veterans who wanted to exclusively help the Watch in a defense capacity, and often had little grasp of or respect for the town's legal system (but still honored the chain of command).
Contact any Officers or Privates to inquire about your role in the security of our town, today!
