[A letter to Merrickson]

Councilor, You have said, once, that you wished for the Council to be transparent and for people to take part in the proccess, or something of the like. Well, for this, there is a simple solution: end the secrecy.

Do not make the Council discussions private anymore, let each Councilor be accountable for his stands and opinions. Let the common man know what the Council is doing for other hands and eyes than of those who are in power and seek to expand and prolong their position in power.

End the secrecy, and then the people will know what to participate on. End the secrecy, then corruption within the council won't be nearly as easy. End the secrecy and your beloved democracy shall thrive.

Otherwise, people will stay in the dark and the Lady of Loss shall thrive instead of the virtues you so seek to profess.

Make the records of your discussions public and then you will know what to do, you who seek to prosper in the 'Dark. Listen to the people, and more importantly, give them the chance to speak. Do not allow yourself to alienate from the reality of the ones you wish to aid, nor them to alienate themselves from you.

I give you this advice in good faith. It is up to you whether you'll follow or not. History progresses regardless of how we feel about it.

I speak this to you, as a man who loves freedom and wishes to preserve it. Give this freedom to act and speak to your people, or it will be taken, eventually.

Foster freedom.

Seeker Vashan,

I agree with you quite a bit, and have put forth a proposition for exactly this. Once it is passed, files of all records shall be on display in the Town Hall.

-Sir Leonard Merrickson, Councilor
