The journal is a simple collection of papers, bound within a leather tome. It is dusty, worn, and not altogether clean. The entries seem to be quickly jotted down in a crude handwriting.
Day three since the cave-in
Reached Sanctuary. Marvelous to find a town this far below, and a good grace as I had run out of food and water. Might stay here for some time, to restock.
--
Helped some citizens, seems they have problems with vermin, both natural and unnatural. Bought a new bow.
--
Felled a rothe today. Feels good to hunt again. Although I miss Aesop.

Day four since the cave-in
Met Jerod today. We felled a pair of rothes together. A good friend, I think.
--
Saw a statue disappear into nothing, then appear again. "A trick of the light", it was said. I'm not sure.
--
I miss Aesop. Perhaps some beast in this place can be trained to take his place? Although it will not be the same.
--
Did more work. Soon done with restocking.

Day [several numbers are scratched out]. It's hard to keep track of the days here...
*The first word seems to have been furiously penned down, the letters nearly penetrating the paper.*
Thief. Frelt the halfling, thrice be damned. Robbing his 'friend' Wen cold before her last breath had left her body, then escaping. Caught him, beat him down, got the things back. Most. Saved him from that cave too, more than he deserves, the scum. He then tried to sweet-talk himself out of it, and is now acting like nothing, selling his thieved goods to anyone the least interested. Should have let him rot in the cave.

About a week and a half after the cave-in. I think.
Learned of a possible treason today. Rilo, his name was - seemed convinced the spellguard was corrupted. Nearly got us killed by trying to access forbidden areas... Heard he'd done the same earlier, getting several men killed. I should report him, but he seems to be genuine in his concern. And I'm not sure if he's a fool, perhaps he's right. City-folks are too complicated for me to tell.
