I found an item that says Bad Strref in the properties section of the description.

What does this mean and do I need to trash it?

Not at all.

It likely just gives you a bonus feat. Check your character sheet for any extra feats you may have while this item is equipped that you did not have before. (IE: Improved Initiative, Cleave... etc.)
