Jacelyn Cheval's acceptance speech

[He speaks in a surprisingly loud, and clear voice, no longer filled with his usual mocking tone. It carries about the hall well]

Friends, citizens, people of Sanctuary and her surrounds, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, elves, half-orcs, half-elves, humans, and all things inbetween! Let me offer to you today my thanks for your support in the recent election, and my reassurance that I will not let you down for the faith you have placed in me! These are trying times, and the threats we face are nigh consistant in their maliciousness! We must work together, in the spirit of friendship, and comradery, to survive in the years ahead, while our explorers, scouts, and diplomats work to find the surface we have longed for, for so long! I intend to do all in my power to fulfill my promises, and act as a fair and impartial judge, upholding the integrity, and honour of my appointed office, while cherishing the spirit of true freedom, from the surface of my heart to its deepest foundations.

Never will I turn away a man in need of aid, never will I block my ears to the words of the people. If you have a grievance, come to me, and we will work to make things right, together! I will not hold myself above any, save remorseless killers, slavers, and those that bear us fatal ill. I will always work towards freedom, and the surface. Never will a slaver find safety within our walls, with my knowing! By the gods of Duty, Mercy, Retribution, Protection, Dawn and Justice, as my witnesses, and all of you I stand before, I so swear these things, for better, or worse.

The gravity and severity of our predictment, does not mean celebrations should not be had, nay friends, they should be had more often, for any joy, tastes all the more sweeter, when surrounded by bitterness. I invite you all to come to the Last Stand, in a day's relative time, to have a merry cheer of celebratory drinks, on my gold, for whatever ounce of joy is left to you. For me, it is my appointment, and the opportunity to help better our lives, fight for freedom justice, and the land above, in my own way. So come one, come all, friends, and foes, to drink to our joys, and drown away the bitterness, a temporary respite, if ever there was one.

[At this point, the dwarf Breena Watchever, suggested not to take up her kin on the offer, to which they both laughed]
