I wanted to play an illithid because it's my favorite D&D race. I had a good story for one that isn't evil as well. Heres why he isn't evil... During a battle with a elven sorcerer, he was cursed by the sorcerer to realize the cruelty of the Illithid race. When he returned to his city, he was exiled because the other Illithids realized he had undergone a change of heart from the curse because he was independent of the mother brain. I know the level adjustment is like 7 or 8, but can this be reduced?
Playing a reduced level adjustment illithid?
Without having discussed this at all, I think I can almost guarantee there will never be a PC mind flayer. They're not LA+7 for no reason. Additionally, it just wouldn't add a whole lot to EfU because of the way the player should expect to be treated.
Nope.
Edit:
A PC mind flayer is not impossible to get approved. If you really think you have a great concept for one, we may approve it, however, this probably isn't the best idea for a player that is brand new to the server.
A good aligned illithid however, will never be approved. LE is your best bet!
I don't really want to play on the server since I'll know my character is a slave forever unless I do the escape quest, that which will delete my character. I normally don't play evil. Would you accept a good kobold? Good Kuo-Toa? Can I get a list of the monster races that would be accepted if I made them good?
Anyway, here is the kobold background.
Kir'Rin was raised by a paladin who found his egg in a kobold lair. The paladin thought it was a dragon and would make a good mount. Unfortunately, it was a kobold. Kir'Rin was raised by the raised by the paladin. This is why the kobold had followed the path of good, rather than the path of evil like most kobolds. Eventually the kobold parted with the paladin and he traveled to the underdark (with some of the paladins from the monastry of course) where he would help the Sanctuary and it's inhabitants survive the harsh underdark, as well as beat back any threat he comes across.
Is this good? I could probably change a few things around or add more to it if I must. I want to make the kobold a paladin or a fighter if thats alright.
I'm not sure I understand why you think a standard race would be a slave. It sounds like you may have just skimmed over the setting info and have misinterpreted the nature of the server. Pretty much no PCs are slaves, some have backgrounds as being ex-slaves but it's perfectly acceptable to have wandered your way into the Underdark through some other method.
There are pretty much no "monster" races we'll accept as being good-aligned, since they are monsters.
Since you seem a little disoriented, I strongly suggest just logging in with a PC and exploring a little bit first!
Could I at least get a reason why somebody would be in the underdark if they weren't a slave if they could have been on the surface?
The base setting itself is a city in which a large amount of ex-slaves from various Underdark cities in the setting area have found and made a town in the ruins of an abandonned Svirfneblin city, having been unable to find their way out of The Underdark.
As previously suggested, you should definitely log in with a 'standard' character, if only to get a sense for the setting and server.
Explorers, traders, ex-slaves, lost adventurers, researchers, treasure seekers, teleportation that went awry, anyone with enemies who packed them off to the Underdark....
There's no limit to the number of explanations.
And certainly many managed to escape from slaver races, either through the efforts of people in the town or through their own methods.
It is certainly a legitimate thing to wonder about IC though with your character.... strange that so many surfacers have found their way to Sanctuary!
Something to work out IC, though.
